22mm to 17mm Adapter for Garmin DriveSmart 86 RV 890 1090 dezl OTR800 OTR1000

Perfect for my needs.My old GPS dash mount (that I used for years ) had the wrong size support ball.

This was my third one. The first one broke off where the screw is located. So maybe defective.

I upgraded from a Garmin DriveSmart 55 to a much larger DriveSmart 86. The ball socket on the new mounting bracket was too big for my existing dashboard friction mount, and I did not want to change mounts, so I needed this adapter. At first I thought I purchased the wrong adapter. I could not get it onto my old mount. I tried just pushing it onto the smaller ball and no luck. I then grabbed the ball mount on this new adapter and twisted it. Instead of the the outside plastic sprocket at the other end loosening, the ball mount started unscrewing from the part that should snap onto the smaller ball mount. I almost tossed it in the garbage. But finally, I screwed that ball mount part in as hard as I could, until it stopped moving. Then when I twisted the other way, the plastic sprocket at the other end finally loosened and came off. I then was able to attach it to my old mount and it works perfectly now. It was a little frustrating, but I am glad I stuck with it and did not toss it in the garbage.

Perfect fit to allow me to use my existing garmin mount with new 8" gps. Everything stays tight and this extra piece allows me to move the gps up so I have a clear view of the car's video screen.

It was good while it lasted: It broke after about a year's worth of use.

I also purchased a cupholder to attach to their 17mm to this 22mm adapter. After doing so my Garmin DriveSmart 86 fit perfectly. Found this after I had already purchased and returned the Garmin due to it not working on the original cupholder. Resulted in me re-ordering the Garmin and having no issues once this adapter was used.

I purchased from Amazon a Garmin DriveSmart 86 GPS. I was dismayed when the new device did not fit my previous Garmin dashboard “beanbag” mount. Garmin does not offer a “beanbag” mount for the DriveSmart 86; Garmin only offers a windshield mount, which, in my vehicle, sits too far away from the driver to control the GPS comfortably. I searched Amazon for an adapter and found this device quickly. This adapter allowed me to use my old dashboard mount with my new GPS unit—and it was priced fairly.
