Saving my sanity for a lengthy healing process
My ankle has been strained and sprained (did you know both can happen simultaneously? I didn't) since the end of June. I did all the proper home care, got the x-ray to confirm no breaks, and rested as much as I could tolerate. Unfortunately for my hurt ankle, I can't abide sitting still. This led to me hoping compression socks and using a cane would be enough to keep me mobile. They weren't! My ankle didn't improve with time, and I had to go back to my physical-labor-intensive job shortly, so I purchased this brace. While I'm no athlete, I needed hefty support to ensure that I could make it through the workday. This seemed like the best and most affordable brace on the market for stabilization side-to-side, which was my main concern, while still allowing some flex up and down. It certainly works as advertised-- there is significantly less strain on my ankle when walking or climbing, and I'm not afraid of it rolling and causing further damage. Unfortunately, this support inevitably comes with the downside of restricted motion and the discomfort caused by spending 14 hours trying to flex against it. It still infinitely beats the alternative of doing further damage to the tendons, but I find where the brace ends on my sole is often sore after a few hours on my feet. Not worth docking any stars as I don't believe it's even possible to avoid this while still offering the level of immobilization I need for this injury to heal. Also worth mentioning that I brought it to the orthopedic appointment and the physical therapist that followed and both approved of my using it, even clearing me to wear it 24/7 if I found it helpful (I prefer not to, due to the aforementioned soreness). Both specifically called out the benefit of it being lace-up and having the velcro straps to add stability and relieve the injured tendons and ligaments of their burdens. So, if the medical professionals like it, I'm happy.

Excellent purchase
The Sparthos Lace up Ankle Brace was a big saver for me. I could not get around at my work very well , with the big boot, the doctor put me in. It is so much easier with this one. It is light weight and supports me to the max. I am so glad I purchased it. Connie

Good for some, just didn't work for me
There were no issues with the quality of this item. It was comfortable and the velcro held well. Was slightly difficult to get on. Item wasn't doing what I was expecting of it, but that is nothing to do with the item, it just didn't do what I needed it for.

Not easy to get on
I have and old ankle injury that flares up from time to time so I wanted a brace to stabilize the ankle. This took forever to get on by myself. The part for heel has no flexibility so it ki da hurts the heel area. I wish that part was elastic otherwise I think this brace would work better. Not easy for those of us for wide calf either. I got the xl because I have wide ankles, calves and feet. My foot and ankle are fine but the laces aren't long enough to tie easily. I'm going to have to get longer laces.

Get boot laces
I have EDS and actually broke my ankle a few years back during a fall. It acts up every so often. This brace does not dig in, it is soft and comfortable, yet still supportive. My ankle is still very inflamed, so I can not attest to how it fits in a shoe, as I am currently rocking a slipper with no back on the affected foot. The Velcro is very strong and does fray the laces very easily. I bought long boot laces from Walmart and they work. The opening for your heel is actually very comfortable, unlike other braces that I have had. My feet and toes do not go numb and nor does my heel. This brace has been a godsend and it’s definitely worth the money.

Several things I had issue with..
First..it doesn't fit in your shoe like listing states it does. It's bulky and kind of cuts in to your foot. Takes MORE than a minute to put on as you are having to try to get it tight enough to TRY to compact it enough to try to fit it into your shoe, then tying it etc. Then of course doing the reverse to take off takes equally a lot of time. I found it cumbersome to walk on and hot and very uncomfortable along my ankles ...that drove me N U T S !! I wore for several hours and decided that they were just not worth the added extra irritation on the bones on my ankle to feel w/ what my foot was already feeling...sent back and got a refund.

Love it!
Had thus brace several months and it gives me excellent support. I've tried half a dozen different ones and this one is great. All lace up braces are a little difficult to put on so that's fine. I've had 3 ankle surgeries and this has been the most helpful for me. I ordered a small. I've got small ankles but medium calves. Plenty of lace left to tie. Fits fine in an athletic shoe.
