Do it yourself if you can. The bumper cover is removable.
I didn’t install it, I had someone else do the install. I kind of wish I had done it myself. Doesn’t look like it would be too hard based on utube videos. It is working, and that’s all that matters. Much cheaper than the thousand + dollars that Mercedes wanted for parts alone. I did get the bolts to attach it from Mercedes. Dang they were proud of those two bolts.

Fits perfectly on 2012 Smart 451 and overall a great replacement . Included bolts are larger than OEM.

Does not fit 100% but it works.
Flange bolts were too big, had to use the originals. Exhaust heat shield bolts did not align, had to skip 2 of them and only use 1. All in all - it works. For the price I'd say its worth it. I'll update this if I have any long term issues.

My Smart Fortwo is Quiet again, Great Value Bolts in original spots.
Was able to install on my 2009 Smart Fortwo Pure in a few hours. Bolts in just like the OEM, does reduce the sound of the car compared to my old non oem muffler. This is my second exhaust replacement since I live in an area with lots of road salt use and the failure point is always the flex pipe. I would consider it very close to the OEM. Be very patient when installing and pre oil the bolts and allow plenty of time for it to penetrate.
