After a Full Week of Use, 80+ hours, Better Than I Thought
This is my first gaming laptop. I looked long and hard for a "futureproof" laptop, and this is the one for me. You can't go wrong with the specs on this, even though it is a little bit on the pricier end for GTX 1070 laptops.TEMPS: I'd still choose a GTX 1070 over a 1080 card laptop any day because I know that the 1080 cards can generate more heat when playing games on ultra, and that's a no-no for gaming laptops — components will degrade faster. The GT73VR Titan-427 hasn't failed to impress me with its cooling. I've been gaming on it for 6-7 hours with ultra settings on PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Last Man Standing, GTA V, Vindictus, and temps rarely ever passed above 65 degrees on both CPU and GPU, but always stayed under 70, which is pretty good; MSI's cooling boost does a very good job. The other 10 hours on less-intensive games like League of Legends hardly phased the CPU or GPU even on high settings. It's like this guy doesn't flinch when you throw low-mid heavy games at it. It seems he is well-suited for AAA (triple A title) games. I will come back to this review and edit if I'm experiencing any problems with AAA games later like Witcher 3 or the new Lara Croft game. However, I personally would stick to just high setting on any game, because any computer you use will degrade when playing on ultra setting for a long time period.DISPLAY (FPS and more): Most of my games have proven that this laptop reaches the 120fps that its screen is designed for. Heavy CPU and GPU intensive games like PBUG and Last Man Standing have shown frames between 90 to a little over 120 when I was running between landscapes in a hugely detailed open world, active environment. I think Alliance of Valiant Arms, COD, and other first-person shooters performed well to my expectations as far as how fast-paced closed-quarter combat goes with using guns and melees. The 3/5ms 120hz screen design is appropriate for this purpose. I should note that the display on this laptop is fixed at 120 hz 3/5ms. It doesn't seem like I can lower the refresh rate, but I am still figuring out how I can do that since Nvidia control panel doesn't offer an option to change it.PERFORMANCE: In my eyes, this is a mobile desktop or replacement desktop, not a laptop. If it's staying at your home plugged in 24/7, then this is the laptop to get. Perfect for the powerhouse gamer. The performance on this thing matches with even some gaming desktops when overclocked. I was mind-blown when the CPU was easily overclockable to slightly over 3.9 GHz by simply changing the selection modes that this laptop gives you — Turbo, Sport, Comfort, Eco. Comfort mode is perfect for everyday work while switching and maneuvering through multiple tabs and even doing some light gaming on the fly such as League of Legends. Heck, you can leave a low-mid intensive game running in the background when you're watching YouTube or working on a document. This laptop can handle a good deal of CPU and GPU abuse.KEYBOARD: Decent. If you are a person who types a lot for work, get an external keyboard. However, for close-quarter gaming and FPS, the keyboards on this laptop may be preferred. They are designed for gaming, but probably not so for typing work. But then, I blame the way I type. I don't type like most people since I use about 6 fingers on both hands. As far as typing speed goes, on my external keyboard, I type at about 95 WPM (words per minute). However, I can only manage to type as fast as 70-80 WPM on the laptop's keyboard. Maybe the design of the keyboard may not be an issue for a person who types the traditional way with all 10 fingers.SOUND: The GT73VR Titan427 has excellent headphone input and speakers. Most of my job has to do with audio, so I really appreciate the DAC (digital to audio converter) that this machine has to offer. Coupled with Nahimic sound technology makes it even better, because the modes the pre-installed software gives you is apt for gaming, voice communication, and even movies. If you have a sick pair of cans like Sennheisers, this laptop has sufficient juice to power up high-end headphones to offer the user superb and immersive sound quality. Most of my 80 hours of use of this laptop has to do with the sound.PACKAGING & DELIVERY: Decent. The product is enclosed inside two boxes — the MSI box and a larger packaging box. I was expecting bubble wraps, to be placed between the two boxes internally, but I guess it is not necessary since the laptop is already surrounded with bubble wrap and protection from the inside of the MSI box anyway. The product is about 10 pounds, and the total package is about 17 pounds. The extra 7 pounds is from the battery & packaging weight, including the protectors. For a $2000 laptop, I wish there was a tad bit more protection, but Excalibur PC still did a satisfactory job packing the laptop. It got across the entire United States of America safely to me. Delivery was relatively fast. I'm glad FedEx was the shipment of choice because I heard from research that UPS has a mediocre reputation when they ship expensive electronics.VERDICT: If I had my own review website, I'd give this product a 9/10. It met my expectation for a $2000 laptop, and in terms of gaming performance, it happens to be my cup of tea. My only complaint is directed towards the keyboard design, as it just feels ... a little off when I compare it to my external keyboard. But then, again, this is just a matter of getting used to and personal preference. Everything else that this laptop offers, for me, personally, is perfect.. This review is based on a full week of use, 12 hours+ every day, for gaming, casual, and everyday task.

Quality control what?
I can’t explain how disappointed I am with this experience. I have gone through THREE, yes THREE Msi GT73VRs and each one had a problem.Laptop number 1: The laptop came with what appears to be a 2x2 area of the screen with a stuck bright blue pixel in the middle left of the screen. I tried to fix it with software, different methods.. never worked.Laptop number 2: The laptop came with a great screen! Only for it to have problems with the keyboard. Literally the keys were not properly set in the frame of the laptop, exposing the lighting strips / keyboard circuitry underneath. It’s very hard to explain without looking at it, but pretty much the space underneath the majority of the keys is large enough to see underneath the keys themselves.Laptop number 3: As soon as I powered it on, to my horror.. this time a 1x1 stuck pixel on the screen. Again, bright blue when against a black screen.I have had to constantly speak with customer support to get replacement after replacement, and I have certainly found out the hard way there are angels working for Amazon, as well as people who read off a script and don’t even care.. hopefully you can reach the angels, just keep trying and odds are you will.I have wasted over a month and a half going through these laptops.. and it’s been a nightmare. Now I just have to decide if I’m ok with a tiny dead pixel, because I refuse to return and go for a fourth laptop. Please unless you need a laptop right now, just wait for Alienware to fix their heating issues in the ends generation of their laptops.. or if you won the lottery recently, try for an MSI titan. I give up.

Tried a ton, nothing this impressive.
I have had this laptop for a couple of weeks now. I tried a ton of different laptops before I ended up purchasing this one. This thing stays cool! That was my most important factor when looking at laptops and out of the seven I tried none of them even came close. Under load for three hours the fans never even spun up all the way and never broke 80 degrees C which is impressive. There is a button on the side of the laptops to boost the fans performance and if I game with that one I barely break 70C. They are loud when you have that feature on but usually I can barely hear them. Now for the pros and cons but due to cooling be my most important factor, this gets five stars easy for me.Pros:Lightweight for a 17" gaming laptopFastOverclockable. I am sitting at 4.2 without upping voltage so the temps only increased a couple of degrees. Amazing for a laptop.Able to put on an undervolt in order to help with cooling and battery lifeNice speakers, not as good as Lenovo Legion Y720 but still respectable. I would say about as good as alienware but only on a hard surface.120hz make gaming awesome. Handles Overwatch on Max with over 120 framesCooling is spectacular, read aboveI/o: so many ports! 5 USB ports, display port, TB3, HDMI, gigabit ethernet.Impressive sound card. When you plug in a headset it is so clear and has good base. I was shocked that it made a difference to be honest but it does.NVME is so fast, the one they give you is not the greatest, 1GB/s is better than sata but no where near as good as most Nvme drivesBays, has tons of bays and very easy to work on, be careful though. You void your warranty if you open the bottom cover.Easy to open up, I re pasted the cpu/gpu and it was a breeze just take bottom cover off and take a few more screws out. Very nice to work onCons:Keyboard is not the greatest and because of it's size your hands are not positioned well when on any surface other than your laptop. It is a LAPtop so I guess I can't fault it for that very much. Feels great on the lap but sits way too tall if it is on a desk.Right shift key too smallThis thing is HUGE. It is almost two inches thick in the backIn order to achieve being lightweight, it is made out of plastic. Feels pretty cheap for a premium laptopSoftware to control most of anything sucksSo much pre loaded garbage. Please do not think this laptop is slow it is just all of the garbage they put on it. Just uninstall some of the crap and it runs great.Does not have optimus or G sync. I thought that without GSync it would support optimus but it doesn't so the battery life is atrocious. Screen is still nice just not as nice as it could be.I can't really think of anything else to put on this list but if you have any questions feel free to ask. I am a gamer and a power user so I can answer most questions.
