A nice creative activity for kids that is easy and relatively mess-free
Once the water has been pre-prepared with the powder (we did this the night before, mixing the powder with water in the tray as per the instructions), my 8yo was able to quickly and easily manage the rest of this process independently. The kit comes with everything you need - you just drip the paints onto the pre-mixed water and use the tools provided (plastic needles, comb and scraper) to make patterns in the colours. Then, when you are happy with your design, you just pop a sheet of paper on to soak up the pattern and let it dry out. It's not mentioned in the product description, but our box also came with some little wooden figurines that can also be marbled/dip-dyed with the same process. You get 10 sachets of the powder for the water, so this kit should be good for ten activity sessions (you will probably need more paper than the ten sheets provided!)A nice creative activity for kids that is easy and relatively mess-free.

Good kit
This is a good kit for starting marbling as, in addition to inks, it contains all the other bits and bobs you need to do marbling. This is a fun activity to do with children. It's a bit messy so you have to make sure you put lots of plastic down to protect your house. It's a shame that to make it work well you have to put the powder into the water the day before, so it means you'll have disappointed kids if you open up the package expecting to be able to make some marble paper straight away.I like using the marble technique to make pretty writing/craft paper. It also works well to decorate plain ceramic baubles to look like planets which is an activity my kids enjoy. We had good results with this kit, the colours of the inks are pretty together.

Great fun with brilliant results.
Apologies: I formatted the memory card in my camera, forgetting I hadn't pulled off the photos (and video) of this project! The CraftLab Premium 6 Colours Marbling Kit comes with everything you need to make colourful marbling projects - apart from the artistic ability! - and only requires a small amount of pre-planning before use.In its simplicity, water is doped with Carrageenan powder and left for at least 6 hours before use. Dissolve a pack of the powder in water, in the tray, stirring until the water becomes clear again. (I filled to just under the lip of the tray) It may be simpler to do this 'in situ' where play is to be. I mixed this the afternoon before my grand daughter was due, just because I didn't want to get up silly early in the morning! The powder behaves like gelatin and thickens it, permitting the paints to 'float' on top of the water. In essence, the paints are dropped on top of the water, then sculpted using the tools provided until a beautiful pattern / picture is created, then transferred to the papr by carefully placing it into the top of the tray. Wait briefly for the paints to be absorbed, then remove and leave to dry. Cleaning up afterward is quick & simple. This kit went down a bundle with my 11 years old guinea pig, another appointment is due later this week! I'll get some photos and edit them in after the event. No criticism of the kit, provided the instructions are followed carefully, all should be well. I shall be buying the 12 colours kit as a Christmas gift, yes, she enjoyed it that much!

Great little starter kit
A great kit to take away on holiday for a rainy day project which young and old can have a go at, and is compact and easy to carry, as well as needing no extra parts. Everything you need to produce marbled paper is in the box, including the water tray and some paper. Myself I'd probably have more paper on-hand ready to go, as there are only 10 sheets of A5 paper. Watercolour paper is widely available here on Amazon, and adding a pad to your shopping basket will ensure that you have plenty to go at with this kit, though any absorbent (not shiny) paper that doesn't wrinkle up or collapse when you dip it in water will do.The directions are very clear, and honestly there's not a lot that can go wrong. As long as you take the time to let the water thicken for at least six hours, you'll get some kind of result. You can leave the pre-thickened water for two or three days with no problems before you use it. A roll of wallpaper underlay or a kid's kid's craft paper roll would be the only extra I'd suggest you take, to lay out drying marbled paper. It says suitable for anyone over the age of three, but really there are a lot of stages and a level of co-ordination and patience is required, so I'd think no younger that six or seven, myself. Having said that, as long as you managed to get ink onto your paper, it's a success, and this kit does have a few little plywood blanks which might be easier for younger kids to manage. In all I think this is a great kit, with everything you need laid out clearly. A few kits would make a great party project too, being easy for everyone to have a few goes, and see what they get. For the money this is a really nice little kit.

Creative fun for kids
I got this for my 8 year daughter. The pack had a sachet of powder, different colours, wooden figures of butterfly and some thick sheets of paper and some tools to make the designs. Following the instructions, we soaked the powder sachet in water and left it for more than 6 hours. To our astonishment, we could see the marbling effect on the solution. However, we weren't sure what we had to do next. We immersed the wooden figures in water but the outcome wasn't great, it was a bit dull. And could see the design well on paper.Overall, creative fun for kids.
