Q: Looking for a quiet clean tone. Is the Volume knob responsive between 0 and 1 on the low power setting? Baby sleeping next door

Yes. It is clean, and responsive between 0 and 1. I am currently living in an apartment so I have to keep my volume low .

Q: Do these sound better than Vox amps?

As per the previous answer, the Vox will be a brighter, chimey sound. The Origin 20 has the standard Marshall tone but is not quite as heavy as a Plexi. It was designed to work with pedals (it has an effects loop) and does it very well.

Q: I mostly use bluesbreaker(bb) & silver jubilee(sj) on my code. this seems to replicate the bb tone. would adding a pedal let me replicate the sj tone?

I use a Boss Bd2 Blues Driver and vary the gain to get any sound I personally enjoy, Love this amp, very strong, very basic. Enjoy
