To attach to teardrop because of the curvature, best way to cut the awning rail probably into four sections depending on size, the rail will bend only so much if pushed to far will damage the channel, will have to glue with sikaflex and screw down into body.

Q: Can you glue using suitable adhesive sealer onto a campervan

I am no expert, but my intention is to drill 4 holes (I have two lengths to install together), through the rail and the vehicle roof, fit water resistant grommets, and screw the rails into place with the black all weather jointing compound that I also bought on Amazon. I am told by others, that sealing on to the van is suitable as long as there is correct restraints on the awning to ensure there is no excess load generated by strong wind or poorly fitted strapping. Hope this helps.
