Connected to Home Assistant Yellow....works perfectly
Bought this POE ethernet switch to connect to my recently purchased Home Assistant yellow. The HA yellow version I bought was POE and this was my first venture into this way of powering devices. The reason I bought this switch was price. An outstanding deal for a 4 port POE switch compared to the others that in some cases were more than 2-3 times the price. I personally struggle to see the justification in some of the prices of these named brand switches for something that essentially is only providing power to a device over an ethernet cable. The box arrived next day after order and was very secure (inside its own little anti static bag) and also comes with a kettle type plug lead to power the switch. It also comes with a cat 6 ethernet cable to connect to a device. Once unboxed, I plugged the power into a socket near my router and using another ethernet cable I had, connected it direct into router. Power then turned on and light immediately came on the switch indicating that I was connected to my router. Then plugged in my new cat 6 cable and plugged it into the ethernet port on my HA yellow and the satisfying site of seeing the lights fire up. Overall, very happy so far with the switch and will be looking to add further POE devices to it and see how it handles a higher load.

Ensure your fibre transceivers are compatible (suitable ones are mentioned in the review)
4 stars because it is not compatible with all transceiver modules. This new 10 Gigabit fibre and 2.5 Gigabit RJ45 switch has performed very well in my setup. The only real limitation I encountered is that the switch can be particular about the fibre transceivers it accepts. To ensure compatibility, you will need to purchase transceivers that are compatible with major brands such as Cisco SFP-10G-SR, Ubiquiti UniFi UF-MM-10G, Mikrotik S+85DLC03D, Meraki, Netgear, or D-Link. I found that 10GBase-SR modules with a 300 metre range are ideal and quite affordable. On the RJ45 side, my existing Cat5e cables have handled the 2.5 Gigabit speed without any issues across my home network, and the switch itself has been rock solid since deployment. I purchased two of these switches and connected them using OM3 fibre optic cable and two transceivers to establish a reliable 10 Gigabit link between the two units. My next planned upgrade is to install Fibre network cards in my main PCs. This will allow me to use the spare transceiver ports and shift the PC to PC networking from 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet to a full 10 Gigabit fibre connection. When buying network cards, make sure they support 2.5 Gigabit or higher to benefit from the switch's capabilities. The switch will automatically fall back to Gigabit speeds or lower if a connected device requires it. The switch has a relatively compact footprint, about the size of a standard hardback book. Note that it does not have built in wall mounting points, although it does include fittings for rack mounting. With a little ingenuity, wall mounting would still be simple to achieve. Performance is as advertised, with 10 Gigabit per second on each of the fibre transceiver ports and 2.5 Gigabit per second on the Ethernet ports. I successfully connected my 2 Gigabit per second fibre internet connection by linking my router's 10 Gigabit LAN port to one of the switch's 2.5 Gigabit ports, and it is working perfectly. Being an unmanaged switch, you cannot monitor the ports or speeds from a computer. However, the LED indicator lights on the front panel clearly show the speed and status of the Ethernet ports. Crucially for fibre users, the lights also confirm when a recognised transceiver is installed and when a successful connection is established with another transceiver. The one extra physical feature to note is the small VLAN switch on the unit, which can be set to On or Off. Since this is an unmanaged switch, this toggle does not set up a traditional Virtual Local Area Network. Instead, it activates a simple Port Isolation feature. VLAN Switch Off (Standard Mode) This is the standard, normal mode of operation. * All devices connected to the switch's RJ45 and fibre ports can communicate freely with each other. This is what you want for a typical home setup, allowing your PCs, media servers, and other devices to see and talk to each other for file sharing and local streaming. VLAN Switch On (Isolation Mode) When set to On, it activates Port Isolation for the 2.5Gb RJ45 ports. * Function: This isolates the RJ45 ports from one another. Devices plugged into two different RJ45 ports cannot communicate directly with each other. * Traffic Flow: All traffic is forced to go through the uplink ports (in this case, the 10Gb fibre ports). This means any device on an isolated RJ45 port can talk to your router or main network (via the fibre uplink), but they can't see or access other devices connected to the other 2.5Gb RJ45 ports on the same switch. * Why use it: This is a simple security measure to prevent peer-to-peer snooping or interference, which can be useful in settings like a shared house or a small office where you want to ensure all devices only have access to the main internet connection and not each other's local traffic. For most home users looking for seamless local device communication and networking, you will want to keep the VLAN switch Off. Looks wise, it is a small black rectangular box with a white fascia. Feel free to turn it backwards to hide all the network cables :)

A nice set it and forget it ethernet switch.
Had a 1G switch before, but upgraded our Wi-Fi so needed something new to accommodate the new speeds. Very simple to use and setup. Just plug it in, connect your devices and you're good to go. Feels like a good quality product that will last for years to come.

Fantastic little poe switch. Works perfectly.
I was so impressed I bought another a few months later! I bought my first one for 4 hikvision poe cameras and worked perfectly, so I bought another for another 4 reolink cameras and up to press they have performed brilliant! In the box is the unit itself a kettle lead power cable and instructions. The unit feels really well made, and has some weight behind it for a switch. The power lead is actually quality, nice and thick and well made, not your usual tosh you get with some unknown brand electronics. The size is just a little larger than a standard network switch. Please don't worry about the speed being 10/100 this is ample for cameras, for instance on one of my units I have a 3 x 5mp and 1 x 8mp cameras. The 8mp is an all bells and whistles one with 4 streams constantly running and they all run at full speed and stream perfectly. There is 5 ports in total all with a link light that flashes, one port is for access to your network and the other ports are for your cameras (or other poe devices) it's pretty clear what ports are what on the unit. All in all I'm really impressed so far especially for the price. Thanks

Good, reliable and cheap!
I've got this set up with 2 x Annke C500 5mp POE IP cameras running through it and it just works. Its been up and running for a few months and no dropped frames, no reboots, no dramas. I'll be adding a third camera to is shortly. Lots of power for POE devices, no problems there. Yes I'd prefer 1000mbps on each POE port but a 4K camera uses less than 10mbps so it's not really a problem. Not tried the SFP port yet so can't rate that. I was reluctant to buy this, never heard of Goalake but I'm glad I did. Its cheap but not cheaply built and does just work which is all I need. I think I will be going for the 18 port rack mount switch as I lay the permanent cables for the CCTV and the access points.

Great little switch, great value too.
Great switch for the money. I got two and a SFP cable and they work fine. They don't overheat like my old switch.
