Legit sword
Bought this for my 12 year old and he loves it. It’s a legit blade, which I wasn’t expecting. NGL, I didn’t dig deep on the reviews before buying this so it was probably there, but I didn’t realize I was buying a legit functional sword for my kid. Now, that said, he thinks it’s the coolest thing and he takes it out of the sheath to admire it and then carefully put it back and store it blade up, because that’s what YouTube says you’re supposed to do. Quality seems really nice and the blade is beautiful and lightly oiled. Recommend for people who aren’t trying to have sword fights with this thing because in that case…. Umm…. Buy a toy.

Amazing quality for value
I bought this Katana for use with a Cosplay I do a couple times a year because I got tried of borrowing my friends' swords.I didn't want something super cheap feeling or made of plastic or whatever. I really just wanted it to have a good look and weight to match the quality of the rest of my costume.I took the word of many other reviews about the quality and look off this Katana and ordered it. Upon opening it, I would not have been disappointed had I paid double what this cost me!I'm no expert, but I've handled quite a few Katanas in my time of varying quality. This thing looks and feels legit. The blade is super cool looking and very sharp in the blued steel. The quality of the blade is VASTLY superior to other swords I've handled at this $50 price point. I mean there is no comparison! The Saya (scabbard) appears to be real wood (can see it at the top with sword out) and is just a basic black lacquered finish with a very good quality holding tie. It looks and feels excellent in hand. The Katana itself is well decorated. Aside from the blued blade finish, the grip is in a white leather (faux I assume) that feels great and is plenty durable for handling and cosplay. The tsuba is metal and well decorated. Doesn't feel cheap. The pommel is a thinner metal that matches, seems good to me.The weight seems good. It's probably not some perfectly balanced combat ready katana, but others reviews says it's actually pretty nice for practice and cutting. All I know is it's beyond perfect for my needs. It would display beautifully and be perfect for and costume. Be aware the blade is sharp so there is that! Something others haven't mentioned, the blade comes oiled and sealed in plastic. It comes with instructions on how to wipe the oil in and remove heavy residue. Just general care. This makes me feel like the blade is of decent quality steel. If there is a better Katana you can buy brand new, have it delivered next day for $50, I'm not sure it exists.

Sword
Bought as gift for my grand daughter and she loves it. She wanted it as a decoration in her room but be careful with it because it is sharp.

Sharp, tight and looks good
The blue blade (28.5" long) has a bohi and a taper that makes it an especially well-balanced sword. The grip wrapping of the handle (10.5" long) is different than most other katanas, but it is tight enough and put together pretty decently. I didn't find it to be especially comfortable, but a few wraps of hockey stick tape made it fit my hands perfect. All the hardware is done in an attractive antique bronze looking finish. The features don't really match a theme, except "outdoors," maybe..The furnishing materials do appear to be decently made, though none of it attracts a magnet. The tsuba isn't rare or unique, but I like the shape and appearance of it - kind of like a rear sight, as you look down the length of the sword. This made it easier to notice the slight, gradual leftward (1/8") bend the sword has. This is an extremely annoying nitpick that sword buyers absolutely despise, but sadly, this flaw isn't RARE enough..I will accept this flaw for what I spent - it will take some effort to find a better made katana for less than fifty bucks..The tang DOES attract the magnet all the way back to the very last inch and a half of the handle, so nearly full tang - same spot as my Siwode.I can most closely compare this sword to a Siwode brand katana that I bought recently - red/black grip w/bohi and gold/black furniture. It takes some effort to tell one from the other without looking, because appearance wise they do not look anything alike, but they both balance very nicely, and this one does feel a tiny bit lighter at the very tip. This is not a heavy sword, at 2lb & 2oz. (Wheeler trigger-pull scale) when compared to other katanas - it is the lightest weight (full length) katana that I own. Other blade designs might be even lighter, but those blades look quite different and are designed to be especially light handling - like the Unokubi Zukuri style blade. Both (the Siwode and this sword) have the same length of blade and grip. They also have the same Sori curve angle - (13/16") which I find to be optimal. The scabbard is nondescript but it does fit the katana remarkably well - like goldilocks perfect. The Segeo is rather short, but it is made of the thicker material (actual, proper sageo) - thicker than most others I have seen. The sword doesn't come with any certificate of authenticity or sword bag. I use one of those thin, inexpensive 4x48" Gun Socks that sell for about four or five bucks apiece - they work great. The cuff of the Sock can be rolled down upon itself to index on the Tsuba, allowing a few inches of the grip to remain exposed while the scabbard is covered. The elastic of the cuff will hold this sleeve in place (onto the tsuba) until you pull it off, like a sock. This few inches of exposed handle might be all you need to tell one katana from another, and it leaves just enough to pull the katana from the scabbard. These skinny shotgun sleeves don't come in any wild colors or patterns (like sword bags sometimes do), but it should protect the scabbard from most handling scuffs. They are relatively inexpensive and will work in combination inside a proper sword bag, if you prefer additional protection. The sword arrived clean and well wrapped, with the blade inside a plastic sleeve, inside the scabbard, and the whole sword inside another plastic bag, and held in place by 8 pieces of U-shaped Styrofoam. The cardboard box is decently made - it was NOT falling apart, with the sword sticking out, like a box I had received from another company...And I have no reason to doubt the bold, direct, advertised claim that "This real katana will protect me from fierce animals during camping and other outdoor activities..!"..First, I really like the enthusiasm, and I guess it probably could be used for that, but it wouldn't be my first choice....And I've never owned a specially designated "camping sword" before..Even with the exciting images evoked by this claim, and with everything else considered, I am still quite satisfied with my purchase. I believe this particular model of sword is a great choice inside of its price range.
