Great air fryer
Love this air fryer, so much more healthy with no teflon, no micro plastics. Does a really good job. The glass bowl a bit heavy, but worth it.

Accurate temperature control and good design
Excellent quality and versatility. It’s quiet, and the on/off lid/handle design is fantastic! I’m roasting a 12-lb fresh turkey today and it’s looking wonderful after just two basting cycles, which are super easy with just lifting the lid off and setting it beside the unit while basting. Clean up after a turkey is mixed. The metal ring had cooked on grease all around the inside and Dawn Power spray didn’t touch it. Totally Awesome spray cleaned it with ease. The top was more challenging because it can’t be sprayed. I soaked paper towels with Totally Awesome and set them on the metal but didn’t work. See photo. I doubt that will be a problem but I’ll keep looking for a solution. Still love the unit.

Very good -- except for the racks
EDIT January 5, 2024. It broke already, less than 6 months of use. I noticed when I lifted the top to turn over my steaks. Normally, lifting the head unit using the handle causes the handle to raise and the unit to shut off. Raising the handle no longer causes the unit to shut off!!!!! I cook steaks in this. After a bit of a learning curve as to time/temp it does a pretty good job of producing medium rare. I find it works best when cooking from frozen. A note on the glass bowl, it's very easy to chip the edges, especially when washing in a large, enamel sink. Maybe a stainless sink would be a little easier on it, a little less apt to chip the glass if you manage to tap it, but anyway what I do now is leave it in the plastic holder, place it in the sink, carefully wash and rinse, etc. That all being said, one night I left the high cooking rack soaking in a couple of inches of soapy water. (The rack was upside down of course.) The next morning it was rusty. A week or so later I left it again, and next morning it was very rusty. The metal is some kind of cheap white metal, and who knows if it's toxic. It leaves greenish color on paper towels used to wipe off excess grease, and on the sponge. The photo shows partially washed rack. Just wanted to let people know the rack is made of some kind of cheap metal, and I am now looking for an actual stainless steel replacement.

What's Cook'n
I planned on trying this to cook our Christmas dinner, but it died on the first trial run while cooking French fries and chicken. Had to finish the meal in the microwave. Immediately notified Amazon. They shipped a replacement the same day. Received it two days later, just in time for Christmas. o far I have cooked chicken, salmon, French fries and sweet potato fries. The chicken and salmon were some of the best tasting I have ever cooked. We really like the fries too. Cooking times are fast. The food is moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Cleanup is a breeze. I thought it might be too big for jut the two of us, but the size is just right for cooking a whole meal. If you buy one, you will not be disappointed.

It cooks great! As long as it works.
After several friends recommended this model above all other air-fryers (compact convection ovens), I ordered it. I adore fried chicken wings and that is all I ever cooked in it. But the wings came out SO GREAT that I used it at least twice a week. I am a "foodie" and "food snob" and I considered the wings cooked in this machine to be even better than the chicken I fried in a skillet on the stove, and both (a) neater and (b) easier than skillet-frying. Also: just a quick spray of oil onto the chicken rather than wasting a ton of oil frying (even shallow frying, my preferred method) chicken. So I was THRILLED. Then it stopped working, about 6 weeks after I received it. The halogen bulb just died. When I contacted Amazon I was informed that it was past the return period, but they issued me pre-paid postage and a full credit anyway, which WAS GREAT!!!! I suspect it was because this occurred during Amazon "prime days" and the customer service reps were so darn busy that it was just cheaper (labor-wise) to let me return it. Here is my theory about the break-down: unlike "drawer" fryers that often use electric coils (instead of halogen bulbs) and the user moves/removes the cooking drawer to get the food in/out, this cooker uses a halogen light (halogens are powerful but delicate) and, most importantly, in order to get the food in/out the user HAS TO LIFT/REMOVE the actual cooking unit (which includes the bulb) from on top of food bowl. If you do this even a bit roughly, a few times, you're going to kill the halogen bulb. There are ways to replace the bulb, but it's expensive (you might as well replace the cooker). After I returned this cooker/fryer I ordered the more expensive Phillips cooker which uses a drawer. After one use I returned it. It did not have anywhere near the food capacity, it did not cook the chicken even close to as efficiently, and the cooking drawer was much harder to clean than the lovely glass pyrex cooking bowl of this unit. Bleah! My resolution was this: I returned the Phillips immediately, I am re-ordering the Big Boss, and I will be very, very gentle with the cooking lid that holds the halogen light. Also I am buying the extended warranty, which is cheap. This cooker is the BEST. Just be gentle with it and spend $5 on the extended warranty. Then enjoy your delicious food!

Larger than it looks!
I must say this thing is huge! Some asked can you cook a whole turkey in this thing and I'd say with the extension ring, Yes! After researching many brands and finding out all the pros and cons I decide to buy this one. I did not want a small one and also didn't like the idea of the teflon coating coming off on my food which many people complained about from other brands. It's a 16 quart glass bowl with racks and an extension ring included. I recommend you put it in a nice open area as it does tend to throw off a lot of heat. The heat comes out around the top of the bowl as well as the two bottom side vents on either side. The best place I had to put it where I didn't feel I had to worry to much was right on top of my stove. I have low overhanging cabinets. I set it on top of a glass cutting board first to make sure it was level and stable. Since I was worried about the heat I used my oven thermometer to check the surrounding temperature. You can see how hot it was getting behind the unit. This thermometer and the back part of the stove is about 7 inches away from the edge of the bowl. I was also worried about the cord touching the top of the bowl because it gets so hot. As you can see the cord is wrapped there with some sort of heat resisted fabric I believe to protect the cord. I remedied this by using one of my pot holder magnets to keep the cord off the top of the unit. I cooked the chicken legs at 375° for 30 mins. They weren't quite done underneath so I flipped them and cooked them for 15 minutes more. They came out juicy and delicious. They were nice and crusty on the outside with no coating and no oil. I just used a bit of seasoning. I'd also recommend leaving the ring nearby to set the lid on when you're checking the food, flipping it or getting it out of the bowl. The lid is quite hot and probably not best to put it directly down on the counter top. Clean up was easy for the most part. I put the bowl in the sink once it cooled and placed hot soapy water inside then placed the rack and basket in the water to soak. The rack came clean easily. The basket was a little harder because of the weave. All in all a great product but be warned it is large! My only gripe is that there are no directions for use included in the box. I had to use a YouTube video to figure out the basics like turning it on and what racks to use and how. I recommend this product highly. I hope this review is helpful.

follow the directions and be happy
this is a very nice product and it works just as it says it does. the wash part of the product in my opinion is great. it will probably handle a quantity of something for four people. I am single so it is fine for me. I have made French fries, baked potatoes, roasted potatoes, chicken legs, thighs and breast in an egg and bread crumb coating, two crusted apple pie and a cake. you do have to do some experimenting when you first start. I have had mine for 6 weeks now. this is what I basically use. pop corn does work but not that well, it leaves to many unfinished kernels. it fits very well on my counter top. but if you have a small counter there maybe a problem. you do have to be careful when handling the glass bottom when cleaning but when you use the wash system it is very easy to rinse out. I also find that the underneath is easier to keep clean using the wash system. use a damp cloth or paper towel and wipe off real good every time and it stay relatively clean. the clean up is not hard at all. be very careful when using frozen foods if one of the items like chicken happens to fall to the bottom when turning over it will cause the glass to crack. also make sure when you go to use the washing system that your glass has cooled off or when you fill it with about 2 inches of water you do it with hot water so the glass does not crack. if you operate this product right you should have no problems. the only con I have with this product is there are not any kind of parts available. you can pickup a ring, a halogen light bulb and racks ect. on ebay. other then the light bulb the others don't wear out unless you want extras. the thing I don't understand is how a company is allowed to put a product on the market without part backup??? the different excuses about the thing being heavy is semi true but you only basically handle one piece at a time, bowl or top and it is really no big deal. just use the product as designed no more no less and you will be happy. I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE AN UPDATE: FOR WHAT EVER REASON MY BOWL CRACKED. I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER. SPOKE TO A YOUNG LADY GIVING ALL MY INFO. WAS TOLD YOU WILL RECEIVE NEW BOWL FREE REPLACEMENT IN 2 WEEKS. TWO WEEKS PASSED SO I WAITED. THIS MORNING I RECEIVED MY FIRST NOTIFICATION SINCE I TALKED WITH THE PERSON. MY ORDER HAS BEEN SHIPPED AND THEY GAVE ME A FED EX NUMBER WHICH I CHECKED OUT IMMEDIATELY AND IT IS VALID. SO YOU CAN REACH A CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON. IT WAS 3 DAYS PAST THE 2 WEEK MARK. BUT UNTIL MORE UP TO DATE RECIPES FOR THIS UNIT COME TO BE ON LINE YOU ARE GOING TO ENJOY EXPERIMENTING OR MAYBE NOT. LAST UPDATE SAT. 27TH I RECEIVED MY PACKAGE OF A COMPLETE UNIT. AS YOU KNOW I ASKED FOR A NEW GLASS BOWL. FOLKS YOU CAN'T DO ANY BETTER THAN THAT FOR MAKING GOOD ON THE PRODUCT. HERE IS ANOTHER UPDATE 11/9/2017, I AM STILL USING 2-4 TIMES A WEEK WITH A CRACKED BOWL WHICH HAS NOT FALLEN APART YET. I ALSO ADDED A COUPLE OF UTENSILE TO MAKE LIFE EASIER WILTON 10 X 2 PAN WHICH YOU CAN USE FOR BAKING BUT I PRIMARILY USE FOR CATCHING DRIPS FROM COOKING. Good and Bad. Not worth the quality.
I purchased this Big Boss air fryer on Dec 16, 2023. It stopped working May 9, 2025. I used it regulary everyday. I would clean as instructed and cleaning was easy. It was easy to use and for its quality it was great as it worked well with cooking food with great heat retention but I expected it to last longer for its price and quality. I purchased the 4 year kitchen protection plan from Asurion and tried using the plan but Asurion said "We tried to complete the registration of your product and plan however, it seems that your plan is already canceled as the system won't allow us to complete the registration." So I have to contact Amazon to figure things out. Its been a hassel. If you dont mind paying $100 or less for this air fryer to only work for less than 2 years with a useless protection plan then this product is for you.
