Works as needed
I use this to fill in small imperfections on my model cars. Cures hard and can be sanded.

GREAT stuff!
OK, if you're a model maker with a decent amount of experience, you've run into a kit or three at some point that required some surgery to make everything look good. One of the chief problems of modern styrene kits is the tendency for seams not to fit perfectly. I've experienced this with Revell's SR-71 Blackbird 1/72 scale, Revell B-2 bomber 1/144 scale, and several brands of sub models, including Revell, Lindberg and even Hobby Boss. The solution: Mr. Surfacer! This is so much better than the standard modeling putty. Not to denigrate Testor, for example -- I don't know where I'd be without that company's enamel, acrylic and lacquer paints -- but Mr. Surfacer is far superior to Testor's model putty. Much easier to work with, for one thing -- for most seams, I have been able to applay Mr. Surfacer with a small paint brush. Some applications require on pass, some two or three; you can tell by the results you're getting. Some hints: Don't apply it too thickly. Several thin applications are better than one thick one. Sanding, wet or dry, or acetone reduction will be minimized by applying thin applications. Work your way up to the seam being filled; don't try to do it all at once! In fact, probably the best thing is to think of Mr. Surfacer as a rather thick primer. This is a terrific product but it does take some time and experimentation to figure it out.

Excellent & Versatile
This Surfacer is a must-have for any advanced scale modeler. With a little practice, this surfacer primes and fills in small seams in fitting, leaving an easily sandable surface that shows practically no remaining seams. Definitely use in a well-ventilated area because it does have a powerful smell (Acetone). Use spare or cheap brushes when using this product, because it will gum up brushes and render them unusable for anything but Mr. Surfacer application.

Works as expected
I have purchased many of the Mr Hobby painting products, but hadn't tried the 500 primer/surfacer, so I ordered this. Wasn't quite sure what I was going to receive because the photo and title were correct, but the detailed description said: " About this item This model kit might require assembly and painting. Cement, tools and paint are not included. Contains small parts, recommended for ages 14 & up. Skill level 3. THIS IS NOT A TOY. Decals included for extra detail and realism. Highly detailed. Parts are plastic textured to resemble other materials. Illustrated assembly instructions and painting scheme included." They sent promptly the day after I purchased, but our friends at the USPS took SIXTEEN DAYS to get it across 4 states! Good thing I wasn't in a hurry! Was surprised that the 500 is thicker than the dissolved putty. Anyway, I like how thick it is, but I haven't sanded out yet so this review may have an update.

Best liquid putty in the market!
A must have to get the professional model look. Goes on nice and smooth dries quickly. Sands even and easy clean-up. Takes paint well and no need for extra coats to hide the putty.

Excellent primer and filler
Expensive, but makes an excellent material for light filling and surface preparation on plastic models. Appears to be essentially plastic dissolved in acetone (at least from the smell...) Only downside is that the label is entirely in japanese, so no useful information if you don't read Japanese. I was concerned about toxicity, but despite the strong odor, acetone is essentially harmless for this sort of use (it's the active ingredient in nail polish remover...) so nothing to be concerned about, except flammability. Dries very fast, so needs to be applied fairly quickly, and the bottle should be closed as quickly as possible.

Read the small print
I was thinking it was a great deal at $10 for three bottles. To good to be true, right? The photo in this listing showed three bottles and that was what I was expecting. Well, only the one bottle arrived and I thought I was swindled until I read the very small print in the description. It listed 1 bottle. So, I should have read the small print. I shouldn’t expect what I don’t inspect.

Good product for adding surface texture.
This product is used to add rolled steel texture to armored vehicle plastic parts that are not molded with this detail. It can also be used to fill gaps between parts. In general it is used as a primer coat that can be painted over after it dries. Product has little to no shrinkage after it has dried. Use in a well ventilated area as product has a strong odor.

This is like a thick liquid gap filler that goes on like paint. It fills cracks and small holes etc. in your model which, when dry, you can sand smooth. Easier and less messy than putty filler for those smaller filler jobs. Cleanup us with acetone (nail polish remover) I highly recommend this product!
