Great for movies but
Good 3d bubble but sometimes I miss the Center channel clarity. Also not the best for music playback.

An all in one wonder!
I didn’t buy it off on Amazon during the pre-orders but got it off Jumbo. Don’t listen to these blokes, the speakers are great if your looking at convenience and yes you need the subs. You get better speakers towers like Jamos Klipsch etc but those come with issues like wires and in need of a bulky amp. If you want convenience this is it! Sound is really good and don’t treat it like a Sony treat it like a powered bookshelf with brains for its DSP. Crisp really well separated sound. Music sounds incredible and it’s not emulated like but feels like it’s a multichannel recording. Movies with Atmos is top notch and watching dune was incredible! Gaming is outstanding too and performs awesome! Get these speakers if you are upgrading from a soundbar. But if you have a permanent place and have the space for floor standing speakers then avoid it. These speakers don’t disappoint and I never had any audio drops like what people are mentioning. My router ps5 and television using WiFi are all within 3 feet of the digital receiver and had NO drops in audio.

MOST IMMERSIVE WIRELESS SPEAKERS AT THE MOMENT! for dropouts pls read
Sold my bose 900 setup for this and never look back! This is far the most immersive wireless speakers at the moment, even if you complete the sonos and bose setup this is still more immersive because of the way these speakers are designed , the immersive ae function which works on all audio is great ! love playing 360 audio on it! movies are fantastic especially when played with dolby atmos! Although this is an excellent speakers its still far from perfect, first for its price they should include the subwoofers at least the smaller one , 2nd they should have a separate control for the rear and front currently they have only a separate control for the rear and the bass, 3rd i wish there are more colors available at least black. lastly for the dropouts issues, Ive rarely encountered one but when i do its because i had something blocking the speakers , it was fixed when i elevate the receiver and make sure all speakers have a clear line of sight with the receiver and also its a lot better if you will use the hdmi in of the receiver instead of the tv or display. if you are the type of person who just want to buy the best that will make you forget the rest then get this one , you would not be disappointed. i never looked back in bose or sonos once i've experience the sony ht-a9!

Package warranty seal torn
Package arrived with the warranty seal very much torn open. Not even an apology or reason. Unacceptable for that price of tech.

Too many problems
Surround sound is quite good for the price while individual speaker performance or stereo sound is no match for a mid-fi set up. But the main problems is connectivity problems between the main unit and speakers. I have a very simple set up where all speakers are in line of sight and distance is minimal, still a lot of issues ruining the overall experience. When it works it’s decent, pretty good for the money. But problems are very frequent and usually do not resolve with a restart. Bottomline, stay away.

After a week's use of the system, the sound this morning started to breakup. 1. Change the ARC HDMI cable... No difference 2. Unplugged the control box AC several times. 3. At one point when the control box was repowered, the HELLO salutation was on the screen but it stayed there and did not respond to any remote control command. 4. Depowered the control box, once again, and upon repowering, the control box resumed normal operation. In a subsequent instance where the HELLO remained fixed, waited 5 minutes and the control box resumed normal operation. Wondering if the sound glitch is something I will need to live with ? 5. I assume the control box was reset and configured speaker installation in my room. 6. Sound back to normal without glitches. Finally: The problem is not the control box ! The following setting adjustment is the resolution: Setup/Advance setup/Speakers/Wireless/RF = Change from Yes to No. In spite of having RF OFF the sounds breaks off, press HOME then setup and on the tv screen to the right of Advance Settings, you will see RF... Turn it ON and see the software configure the speakers for RF and this will resolve the issue. And another setting is available to have a stable sound with no breakups: Advance settings/Speaker settings/Wireless settings/Quality playback: Change from Sound Quality to Connection. Unfortunately reviewers do not have the patience to find out how to correct dropouts... I invested the time and you can follow what I did. BTW, I elected to take the 200 watt subwoofer, because I live in an apartment house and I am perfectly happy especially for music listening. I do have a problem with this SW3 woofer and that is the power cord does not lock in the device power port. I needed to secure with tapes. Cannot touch the unit because the power cord cannot ne anchored normally. Install Tapes over and under the cable connected to the woofer than install tapes across these two tapes so they wont move. And, I always leave the sound on IMMERSIVE AE for all listening situations. One year after my purchase of the system, I changed the SW3 subwoofer for the SW5. The change was the right one for the sound of music and, surprisingly for the dialogue by some males for TV. But one month after my purchase of the SW5, whenever the A9 system is powered back, the SW5 refuses to connect to the control box. The only way it will connect is to shutdown the sub and wait 10 seconds then power the sub and it pairs with the control box within 10 seconds. To make my life easier, I am using a WiFi power plug to power the sub thus shutting by voice using Alexa and tell Alexa to turn on Subwoofer seconds after the A9 is turned on. I'm happy with that. Some power outages can be harmful... So recently, this particular power outage caused 3 of my 4 HT A9 speakers to play dead and not power up in spite of many attempts. I got in touch with my insurer and they opened up a claim file. But then I searched within Sony online facilities and after time found the solution... One must disconnect defective speakers from the power outlet for 30 minutes. After this time period, I plugged each of the 3 speakers and each immediately displayed the flashing pairing green light and they were all paired to the control box within seconds. So I then called my insurer and had them close the claim file.

Was very doubtful as I got it for $280. I must say it looks brand new, entire box was as is with the packaging, manual, cables, etc. Value for every dollar spent. Top notch Dolby atmos sound quality. It was just plug and activate easy to install, if you are connecting to a Roku make sure to watch some YT videos for help. No comments about the Sony build quality 🔥 Great function too.. no issues overall loving the sound.

I was very skeptical on this system but I didn’t want to run wires or deal with charging wireless speakers. I had outlets right where the speaker would be placed so that already was worked out. Setup: Easy peasy they setup themselves practically And linked right away. Ran the calibration and boom welcome to spatial sound Speakers: Well constructed I don’t mind the color tho some may wish it came in black. They all syncd with no issue. Also I have not experienced any drop outs. Keep in mind having a wireless router near these can cause issues I’d suggest moving it out of the area to another room. Sound: I have to say these thing do as advertised. Sony has always been a top tier brand and this is a reminder why. This witchcraft of audio is truly revolutionary. Now with that said no it’s not going to be as loud as a home theatre but if you dont want to run wires and deal with that nonsense this is for you. I’ve never had to go above 50 it’s plenty loud. As far as configuration my room is odd and have the tv in the corner so the speakers are also at corners and let me tell you it still does the spatial and atmos thing beautifully. I will advise you should get the subwoofer I opted for the sw5 and it shakes the house amazing . Highs and mids are covered very well. Streaming: You can stream to the device (hta9) With Spotify or Amazon music sounds awesome Especially if you do some spatial sound music Listening to music is def an experience with the “special effects” Cost: This is expensive yes I got this during a sale subwoofer and hta9 for 1800 which wasn’t bad in hindsight for how the system sounds. Is it worth it over a sound bar. Yes! I’d pick this system over any soundbar. Cons: Pass through of vrr is not supported yet Not really a deal breaker as I would only use arc connection and have hdmi straight to the tv. Overall: Very nice top quality home theatre system. Atmos and spatial sound are awesome. Get it and forget about the money
