Livro lindo

Terrific book. Conceptual business origin, construction, sinking, demise of Olympic in 1930s.
I thought this was a terrific book. It tells of the thinking of the passenger shipping company White Star’s management in the early 1900s regarding the conception and construction of the three sister ships “Olympic,” “Titanic,” and “ Britannic.” Their shipping careers are comprehensively discussed. The sinking of “Titanic”and “Britannic” are described in detail. The financial and structural demise of “Olympic” in the 1930s is also described well. There are also tidbits of personal stories of key people involved in the ships in one way or another ranging from ships’ captains to nurses and sailors. The text is accompanied by many period black and white photos. There are also several color CGI renderings of decks, promenades, and dining rooms and sketches of decks layouts and key structural details. An excellent book describing the latest thinking on the reasons for the loss of “Titanic” is “What Really Sank the Titanic” by McCarty (2008).
