Studiocanal The Driver UHD [Blu-ray] [Region A & B & C] [2022]

Definitely the best this film has ever looked. A really sharp upgrade from my old DVD. Anyone getting this i would assume is already familiar with Walter Hill's lean mean actioner, so i won't go into close details about the film, Suffice to say Ryan O'Neal and Bruce Dern are both excellent and the car action is riveting.This 4K restoration looks amazing and really brings out the night time photography. Well worth the upgrade and at a great price!Could have done without the 'trigger warning' before the film starts. I'm grown up enough to take into account when the film was made..

I bought this one to replace on old copy.After Ryan Oneal's passing, I just changed it to 4k. Well worth it.

This film is an early movie made by the great Walter Hill. Its as basic as it gets, the characters are not named but given generic titles such as "The Driver", "The Cop", there isn't really any story to get in the way just the elements to show a film with great car chases that inspired James Cameron for the car chases in The Terminator. Yes the acting may be a little cheesey but like I said, there isn't an actual storyline and it's the ambiguity style that makes it worth a watch. The cop is determined to catch the driver and willing to break the rules, the driver very precise and specific, trusting no one almost the inspiration for Luc Besson's The Transporter. The Blu-Ray is excellent quality, I did purchase the 4K but haven't seen it yet. Well worth watching!

Never seen this one. I am a fan of Walter Hill and have seen the majority of his work, but this one slipped through. Glad I picked it up though. It has some really well filmed car chases. Anyone that has first seen "Drive" will immediately see parallels with this. Once you've finished it you'll realise how influential this film has been on specific film makers.Picture quality is generally pretty good, although it doesn't show a lot of detail as I was expecting from a 4k remaster. Faces look quite soft. The only thing I would say is that the PQ has gone down the Teal route, like most 70s/80s neo-noir films tend to do when getting an 4k release. I really wish they would stop doing this. Street lights aren't a bluey green colour. If Walter Hill sat down and colour corrected this himself then fair enough.Oh yeah there is also a trigger warning right at the beginning for absolutely no reason. There's nothing "offensive" in this film. Stop putting that on modern releases.If you like good car chases and a badass main character then check it out. Its pretty good.

Looks a lot better than the Prime video SD version, improved picture and sound!

The seller double-checked that the disc region would not be an issue prior to sending and the blu-ray that arrived was perfect. A pleasure to deal with.

Great movie with dope car chases. Overall, the picture is great, but the daytime sequences look better. This is the best way to watch the movie. The import/product was worth the money.Beware: the Blu Ray disc is not playable in A-region (United States) only the 4k UHD Blu Ray disc

What a shame! I've had successive copies(2) with the SAME PROBLEM: A video distortion that displays a pulsing flash of light that continues from start to finish. If STUDIO CANAL of the United Kingdom could get their act together, it would be welcomed. Regretfully, I'm returning a disc for the second time of a great film!
