Yopokki Korean Rice Cake with Hot Sauce 280G

After coming home after living in Seoul, I craved tteokbokki more than anything! This is pretty much the same flavour as the tteokbokki I got from my favourite street vendor in Sinchon! The cakes are slightly smaller, but the flavour is almost perfect, maybe slightly milder but you can just add some chilli powder. I’ve purchased about 5 times now, and it’s been great every time!

For anyone expecting traditional Korean spiciness, this is not it. Very different from the ddeokbokki you would find at a roadside vendor in Korea, and distinctly lacking that lip-burningly hot spiciness. The sauce provided is a sweet-and-sour slightly reminiscent of Korean fried chicken sauce. It is delicious, but I suspect the heat has been reduced to cater to a wider western market. The ddeokbokki themselves are also very small, maybe only an inch long, despite the picture on the packaging implying a larger size. Nevertheless, I have still given them a high rating as despite not meeting my expectations the product was still very delicious in its own way and extremely easy to prepare. I will almost certainly be buying these again.

The food is really good the problem is to expensive for the quantity and the size. Is really small and very little in quantity.

Not really spicy at all but I already knew when buying it so it has a sweet flavour but when mixed with spicy ramen noodles it taste amazing. Very good for easy to make rice cakes!

it smelled soo horrible while cooking it threw me off actually trying it. Had someone else try the sauce for me and they said it was too sweet, not flavour just like melter sugar mixed with water. Would NOT recommend. Buy this from a Korean restaurant or make yourself. It was frankly a waste of almost £10. The quantity inside is SMALL, the big package almost fools you. Regretful purchase.

These taste absolutely amazing! I can't say anymore than that other than the amount of water needed could do with being increase due to the sugar that is in the sauce but otherwise really tasty!

Nicht empfehlenswert. Die Sauce schmeckt wie scharfer, viel zu süßer Ketchup und die Reiskuchen schmecken wie Kaugummie. Dann auch noch dieser überteuerte Preis. Absolut nicht sein Geld wert. Lasst bloß die Finger davon !!!

Décevant... la sauce est trop sucrée et ça sent le caoutchouc. Aucun intérêt et troo cher pour la quantité.
