Nice shaver, nice price
I have swung between various shaving methods over the years, the prospect of being able to save time by shaving in the shower drew me to wet/dry shavers. Having owned a battery model Braun for some years which I occasionally used and tried in the shower (it is also a wet/dry model) I decided to go for a more expensive model. So far I have been impressed with the performace of this shaver, there is a small switch on the front to retract the first foil and the centre cutter, leaving the second foil exposed to gain access to tricky areas such as under the nose. Three lights tell me when it is charged or needs charging- they flash while the shaver is in use and continue to do so for a few seconds after switching it off. The actual shave it gives is as good as you'll get with this type of shaver - there will always be a slightly rouch feel but it's not visible to others and maybe a few hairs in awkward areas will be left but I've yet to find a foil shaver that can remove these so it's not a fault with this model. The one I received was slightly different to the picture, as stated in the description "colour may vary". I got a dark blue one with chrome trim that I think looks flashier than the one pictured, but that's matter of personal preference. So far I've charged it once and haven't had to again -I've bene using it a few days now. Charging is just a case of drop it into the stand and leave it for an hour anyway (it comes with a "smart charger" which senses when the battery is full and shuts down so no issue with leaving it on all day while at work for example). There is no protective cover for the foils but it does come with a travel case as others have stated. In summary , this is a nice shaver not too expensive but feels well made and is very nice to use. It also lok the part if you're into aesthetics.

Gives a great shave, but buy the 340s-4 instead
The Braun 380s-4 gives a great shave, but you would be better off saving yourself £20 & buying a Braun 340s-4 instead. As other reviews have mentioned, this shaver doesn't shave as close as a razor blade, but there really isn't a lot in it. What fraction you lose in closeness, is more than made up for in terms of comfort.I used electric shavers in the past, both foil & rotary, but I have been wet shaving for the last 20 years or so. I have to contend with quite coarse stubble & I have been impressed how the 380s-4 has dealt with it, though I do shave every day. I have tried dry shaving with the 380s-4 & wet shaving with various gels. I have found that wet shaving with shaving oil gives the best results. Although I do have to go over some areas of my face several times to remove all the bristles, the 380s-4 does not irritate my face at all.It takes me about 8 minutes to shave with the 380s-4, as I am a bit of a perfectionist & I get six shaves before the red "time to charge" light appears. This is better than the 45 mins shaving time that Braun quote. The charging light stops flashing on the shaver, after an hour of charging, as per the manual. If the 380s-4 is so good, then why do I recommend buying the cheaper 340s-4 instead? Well, I have used both, as my son has a 340s-4 & I can confirm that there is no difference in the quality of the shave between the two. Both models take the same amount of time to charge up & both give the same shaving time. Despite what another review said, they are also both equally quiet in operation. I think that the other review was comparing noise levels with the previous model (340s-3).With the 380s-4 you get an extra green light (which shines alongside the first green light when the shaver is charged!!!?) & some silver coloured trim around the power button & the foil head. You also get a flimsy switch to lock one of the foils in place (so it doesn't move up & down with the contours of your face), which is apparently for shaving "hard to reach areas". I only shave my face with the 380s-4 & I have not found the need to utilise this facility. One niggle with the 380s-4, which other reviews have mentioned, is that it does not come with a foil guard, unlike the 340s-4 that does come with one. However, the 380s-4 does come with a pouch to store it in, but it is not very useful for travelling as it is only big enough to accommodate the shaver, without the charger stand, or charging cable. I purchased a foil guard separately at a cost of £5, which when added to the £67 I paid for the 380s-4 still makes the overall package quite good value for money, but not as good value as the 340s-4 which is currently selling for about £55.Finally, as these shavers are being discounted so drastically, Braun are probably bringing out new models fairly soon. So if you are the type to always have to have the latest gadget & you have deep pockets, then it's probably best to wait & see what Braun bring out next.
