Q: Do the cows have any grains at all in their diet? Or is this ghee produced from 100% grass fed cows.

Hello Gloria,The cows are kept in the west country of the UK, so even though they are likely to be brought in for a couple of months over the winter period, their diet is likely to be silage produced from organic grass... However as we cannot ever 100% guarantee that the dairy farmers will not feed grain, we have chosen to only ever have our ghee produced between the months of April - August, when the cows are sure to be out in their pastures. It is also the time of the year when the grass and foliage they are eating is full with vitality and nutrients (come September the grass begins to lose it's richness, which in turn has an effect on the quality of the milk they produce.I hope this helps :)

Q: Is this product pasteurised at any stage?

All ghee is pasteurized. They have to boil it to separate the milk from the fat. You dont need to worry about that - the benefit to unpasteurized dairy is it has the lactase enzymes still functioning which helps metabolize lactose. You dont have any lactose in ghee. Ghee is just the fat. Its stable at high temperatures which is why its recommended for cooking.

Q: Is this ghee made from cultured or sweet cream butter?

Cultured butter. Ghee is clarified butter and is very healthy and tasty. I purchased this ghee 1 month ago and it tastes very good. Would definitely recommend It!

Q: Is this raw or pasteurised ?

All authentic ghee is made from the collection cream of boiled milk and then later gently cooking this collected cream over slow flame to produce ghee after all the water in the cream evaporates . This is the authentic way of producing ghee but I’m not sure how these manufacturers make it , they may be selecting a short cut by melting the butter .. it’s not the authentic way of making ghee .
