I'm just "STRAINING" at the leash to tell you how good it is... Ha-ha!
The only coffee makers that can possibly compete with this one is the Bodum (or similar makes that cost LOTS & LOTS more)! Look no further, as this is an unbreakable, double walled, fully insulated coffee maker that you will love & cherish forever. I have never seen ONE coffee ground in my steaming hot cup of coffee. The overall impression is one of top quality (the inner strainer mechanism is also very sturdy & well designed). I really cannot see how it could be bettered (and I AM fussy... OCD rules OK)!!!This is clearly a popular line (as I had to order it 3 times (not solely off Amazon), to be told that "sorry" it was out of stock on the first two occasions. My persistance was worthwhile....Get yourself one while the getting is good! Highly recommended!!!!!PS: I'm updating this having read other reviews slating it based upon 3 complaints... I have now owned this cafetiere for over 2 years & it is still in great condition (and makes great hot coffee).1) CRITIQUE # 1: "The lid fills with water in the dishwasher"... My view: Don't put the lid in the dishwasher (I never have so have never noticed the problem)... I admit this might be a bit of a pain, but then it is not an expensive stainless/insulated cafetiere.2) CRITIQUE # 2: "It is not filled with insulation material, just double walls & air... coffee kept warm but not hot"... My view: Not my experience at all mate! Nice hot coffee for up to an hour. As with all stainless cafetieres, warm the pot with boiling water before brewing coffee (as the steel is an excellent heat conductor & will otherwise slightly cool the coffee)... Maybe you actually wanted a coffee maker (which has a hot plate to keep the coffee hot indefinitely)???3) CRITIQUE # 3: "Cylindrical (where the plunger/sieve travels up & down) at the bottom, but not the top... poor design"... My view: Who would actually deliberately design a coffee maker like that???!!! Mine is perfectly cylindrical throughout so yours was either damaged in transit or was poorly made & escaped QC checks. I suggest you return it!!!Update (again) 5/2/10...Ahem... The price has just shot up by a whole third for this item (someone got greedy)... I feel that this is fair comment (although pricing discussion is not always appropriate). Doesn't appear too much of a bargain any more (as Bodum can be purchased for just a tenner more)... This is a pity...Update 3/1/13: 3 years in, used regularly & still as good as the day I bought it. It's proven a good investment.

Excellent coffee maker
I chose this item mainly due to the positive reviews already on Amazon. Up to buying this one, I have always gone with the traditional glass ones, but over the years must have bought 3/4 as they have cracked, smashed or just given up on me. Whether the dishwasher is to blame, or we are just unlucky, but I've spent enough money over the years on replacing the glass ones. When I saw this cafetiere, I thought it was worth a try at least. Certainly while my latest glass one is still intact, it was a worthy back up and worth a punt. But what's funny, is since this one has arrived, the glass one has started gathering dust in the cupboard!!!!!It arrived in its little box and I was a bit concerned at first that it may be damaged as there wasn't much packaging inside to keep it snuggled. But I can see I didn't have to worry, as the cafetiere is a robust little thing. It's solid, well-made and clearly looks built to last.Being able to fill it up with hot water before you make your coffee is really handy as it sits and warms nicely, while you get your coffee and cups ready. Once the kettle boils again, let your water come off the boil (a boiled coffee is a spoilt coffee!), and make your coffee as you would normally. The beauty of this product for me is that you can fully heat your pot before you start, because you can add boiling water, so that it then insulates the coffee, so it stays hotter longer, and this is where it wins hands down over the glass ones for me. No matter how many padded coffee warmers, or tea cosies I put on the glass ones, they don't retain heat as well as this one.I have a feeling and hope as well, that this will outlive the glass one I have left, as it is a well made product. It goes in the dishwasher without a problem. and cleans perfectly every time. It has no hidden crevices or nooks so after being in the dishwasher it comes out ready to go. Again unlike the glass ones, I often had to pull them apart to give them a good thorough clean. This one is very easy to wash.I think you would be hard pushed to find another better buy!Wow 6 years on and this coffee pot is still going strong. I've even taken it away on holiday with me!

Ere, wow!
I guess, like the rest of us who visit this page, we've all broken at least one of those cheap glass 'jobbies'. I'm up to about four now - I think its an age thing! So it was finally time to stop with the false economies and splash a bit of cash. This little wonder is remarkable. Its very solid and has the feel of lasting a lifetime. Its a lovely design too and will sit on any kitchen worktop in any house and compliment its surroundings I'm sure. The double lining is something new for me but does what it says - keeps your coffee warm, a bit like a Thermos (other brands available!) Its only a one cup pot so don't expect anything else. If, like me, you like another half cup or so then once you have poured your first cup then simply top it up again using the same coffee and the insulation will do the rest.It also makes a great single cup tea pot! Add your leaves and well, you know what to do.All in all a really lovely little thing and well worth the additional expense.Good service from amazon as usual - 5 stars all the way!

Unbreakable, nice looking, doesn't keep coffee hot for a long time, but good product
We break everything in our house, but we can't break thisWe had been through so many cafetieres it was getting sillyThis is nice looking and doesn't tarnish, very functional and holds a lotI think it is a very good product4 stars as they haven't 'cracked' the problem of keeping coffee hot. It does for about 20 minutes, maybe 30 ( I haven't timed it with a stop watch), but it doesn't have the heat retention of a thermos flaskI would still recommend it though - I bought a smaller one as well
