Where has the chicle gone?

This is Abi from Peppersmith. We stopped using chicle for lots of reasons. We were getting regular complaints about the texture (it could be very tough when cold and very sticky when warm) and because it didn't hold flavour very well. Chicle also had a habit of sticking to caps and false teeth which isn't acceptable as our gum is often chewed by people specifically looking for better dental health. We now use a similar chewy base to other gums (a mix of natural and man-made rubber) but Peppersmith gum is free from artificial flavours, colours, preservatives & aspartame and is sweetened only with xylitol which is how it reduces plaque. Dear Melnish. It is not apparent from the descriptions on the individual packages whether or not they are GMO free. However they taste amazing and leave your mouth feeling fresh and clean. Not the packages but the gum.

What's in the 'gum base'?

I can't answer your question personally but this is what Google says it is "Gum base is what gives chewing gum its “chew.” It is made of a combination of food-grade polymers, waxes and softeners that give gum the texture desired by consumers and enable it to effectively deliver sweetness, flavor and various other benefits, including dental benefits." To be honest I didn't like it and I threw them out after I tasted the first one. I hope this helps. You have to be careful what you put inside your body and I wasn't happy at all.
