Great Value and Works Perfectly for NHS Smartcard Access
I bought this smart card reader to use with my NHS smartcard for remote access to clinical systems, and it works perfectly. It was truly plug and play (classic USB connection)—no hassle with setup, which was a big plus. For the price, it's excellent value. The build quality isn't the most robust, and it doesn't feel like it will stand the test of time, but it’s not flimsy or falling apart either. It is compact, has an indicator LED that isn't too bright, and seems to work instantaneously. Considering the price point, I think it’s a really good deal for what you get.Overall, if you need a straightforward, affordable solution for smartcard access, this one does the job well.

it works!
I've got a portuguese ID and needed a card reader so I can login on the portuguese government website using my ID. This was really easy to use and it worked. Quick to read the card as well

Not recommended
Bought this card reader and tried using it for a few days. The first thing I noticed was the cable is so stiff and short that it's impractical to use. The connector being a USB C with an adaptor is a good idea in theory, but it means the plug is about 6cm long you only have to touch the unit (for example inserting a card) and the plug will act like a lever to make a bad connection. The unit will not work with even a short extension lead or with a powered hub. Tried and tested on several machines, various ports, USB 2 and USB 3. Very poor design and clearly not tested very well before production. Returned for a refund, bought (Hopefully) a better one.

Perfect little card reader
I was a little skeptical if it would work for my wife's NHS login card for remote working but it did just the job and allowed her to complete her work without issues.Good value for money and so far so good in terms of reliability

The perfect answer.
Transfering images and other data to and from phone using WiFi and Bluetooth is slow and a right lash-up compared with doing the same on a PC. Simply plug in and copy or move the file to or from the SD card and phone and it is done in seconds. My only concern is that the device might be easily lost from pocket or pouch, but there is a substantial loop in the case that will take a keyring or similar. Because of the thoughtful design, the adaptor plugs through my thick protective phone case and is also flat enough not to jack up my very thin laptop when plugged into that.Transfer speed is limited mainly by the phone or laptop or more likely by the SD card itself. Anyway, it is much faster than WiFi or Bluetooth.
