When wrestling was good
At its peak, WCW Monday Nitro was better than rival show WWE Raw. Even at its worst, it was still better than the current WWE product. It is great to watch this DVD and relive the many great moments and matches involving legends like Sting, Goldberg, Ric Flair and of course the nWo. There are a few questionable inclusions, such as the infamous Fingerpoke of Doom from 1999, but without a doubt this is essential viewing for any WCW fan. Also, WCW legend DDP does a good job as host of this set.

Taste of mid-late 90s Wrestling
Ok WCW was always the poor cousin of the WWF but come 96-98 it was the cool cousin who learned to drive first a status that was driven 'mainly' by the nWo angle which was gritty and more 'true to life' - a 'shoot' style of wrestling that still influences wrestling today. The documentary is...alright I suppose its typical 'WWE' stuff not the kinda documentary you'll see on the BBC for example the matches are good also. If your looking for a bit of nostalgia then this is perfect - only lost a start because I found the documentary / commentary very 'corporate' ...know what I mean?

It's classic WCW... With the WWE twist...
If you liked WCW then this is a really cool DVD set because it has almost everything from the Nitro years and there's a lot of it!However the one thing I don't like about it is all the WWE bs at the start, the wrestlers are referred to as 'superstars' and it just has a lot of WWE this WWE that, which fair enough, they won the Monday night wars and came out the better company, but this is supposed to be a DVD on WCW, so just let em have it...Other than that it is awesome! Any old school wrestling fan needs this in your collection!

Worth every penny!
Awesome. WCW/NWO were so much better than their rivals during this period. I used to watch religiously on Friday nights when it was repeated here in the UK. Loved DDP, Goldberg and the original NWO invasion!

Good with a few small niggles
I was about 8 years old when WCW was airing in the UK , but my god, I loved it. I lived and breathed it. I'd wait up until 10pm I think it was on TNT to watch Monday Nitro (which I think aired on Friday's in the UK?) and was entertained from start to finish. It was a million times better than WWF (WWE as it's now called). There's no doubt that this DVD box set is good value. It is worth every penny. But as for the actual content itself - I didn't realise as a kid just how many matches were spoiled by Hall and Nash jumping in and the ref ringing the bell. Of the first disk, there must be at least 70% of matches that were called off early due to the NWO thing. I loved NWO at the time but looking at it with nostalgia glasses, I can imagine it was probably annoying for many people watching and the wrestlers themselves because instead of getting a good, long technical matchup, Nash and Hall would ruin it.There are some great matches in here, and one that stands out is the car-park fight between Finley (Belfast bruiser) and Regal. DDP does a fairly decent job of announcing the next match they're going to show. The problem for me is that the timeline is all over the place and DDP doesn't mention how we've got from A to B. The matches are just seemingly random picks. I know it's "the best of", but we could have done with some explanations of why the stuff we're seeing is happening. For example, "Sting" attacks Luger. Why? Was it Sting? Why did they set him up? It has been so long since I saw the original episodes air I can't even remember. If you're a new viewer and just discovering this stuff, you'll enjoy it still, but you'll be just as clueless as the rest of us!The only other thing is that Benoit seems to have been removed from the DVD which is understandable but it's a shame because he had some of the best matches ever in WCW history. I do understand why they removed him though so I'm not knocking any points off for this. I've noticed a few signs in the audience which have been blurred, or fingers up at the camera which were blurred. Come on - just stop censoring history and show us the content! I don't remember TNT censoring any of that stuff (but could be wrong?)All in all, it's a bargain and I do recommend it, but there are some small niggles which I've focused this review on.

Where the Big Boys played...
Trotzdem jeden Cent wert.

... stuff that i remember from when WCW was a good brand of wrestling
This is some of the stuff that i remember from when WCW was a good brand of wrestling. Still i got it for one match in general when Hollywood Hogan won the tilte form Kevin Nash with just the poke of a finger. I have not watched it yet, just got it today. Still 2 more volumes to get andi will have it caught up.
