Kidnapped in Key West (Florida Historical Fiction for Youth)

This is a story that my son was assigned to read for his summer vacation, so I decided to read it as well. My son is ten years old, and he read it with ease. I really enjoyed it. The whole story is told from Eddie's point of view, and the authors did a wonderful job of allowing the reader to feel what the character was experiencing. Although I am not a history buff, I enjoyed how the authors made the entire adventure take place around a real event in history. Because I live in Florida and have visited the Keys many times, I think I enjoyed the book even more. Still, anyone who has never been to the Keys would easily be able to enjoy the scenes described in the book. Plus, the authors have a "Historical Notes" section in the back to help the reader better understand terminology, locations, and historical events. My son became emotional at a certain part (no spoilers from me) which just goes to show how well the authors created the scenes. This is a quick-paced adventure filled with dangerous moments for the main character while also showing both the good and bad sides of humans. Luckily, the good side prevails. :-)

I was cleaning out some boxes last week and found this book I had purchased for my son years back and had to write a review upon reading it. It was such a good read with lots of adventure. It brought back lots of memories, especially being born and raised in Florida.

It's a good read. My son read it as a summer reading homework and honestly, was not crazy about it. Although I think, it would be interesting for the kids who enjoy realistic fiction based on some true historical events/facts. I also think that the book is overstretched a little.

Interesante

I was prompted to purchase this book,for my grandchildren,based on the author's previous publications...Race to Kitty Hawk and Escape to the Everglades. Both are very interesting and loaded with historical facts, this new effort continues the theme. I am well beyond the targeted age group of these works, I did enjoy them all and look forward to the authors next contributation to this body of work.If your child or grandchild likes an adventure story that they can relate to...give it a read.

My son like this book!!!

I had to read this book for summer reading. I thought it wasn't gonna be good because I don't like Historical books. BUT THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!! I loved the book so much! All the emotions that you get, and how connected you can feel with the characters. Overall, this was a great book. Now off to do my book report!
