Incredible Disney Movie!!!!
Quite simply amazing. I'm a 33 year old man with young kids. This is amazing Disney probably the best ever and the songs are brilliant. I'll give an example below from the catchy "Where you are" and "You're welcome"----Where You Are----Moana, make way, make way!Moana, it's time you knewThe village of Motunui isAll you needThe dancers are practisingThey dance to an ancient song(Who needs a new song? This old one's all we need)This tradition is our missionAnd Moana, there's so much to do (make way!)Don't trip on the taro rootThat's all you needWe share everything we make (we make)We joke and we weave our baskets (aha!)The fishermen come back from the seaI wanna seeDon't walk awayMoana, stay on the ground nowOur people will need a chiefAnd there you areThere comes a dayWhen you're gonna look aroundAnd realize happiness isWhere you areConsider the coconut (the what?)Consider its treeWe use each part of the coconutThat's all we needWe make our nets from the fibers (we make our nets from the fibers)The water is sweet inside (the water is sweet inside)We use the leaves to build fires (we use the leaves to build fires)We cook up the meat inside (we cook up the meat inside)Consider the coconuts (consider the coconuts)The trunks and the leaves (ha!)The island gives us what we needAnd no one leavesThat's right, we stayWe're safe and we're well providedAnd when we look to the futureThere you areYou'll be okayIn time you'll learn just as I didYou must find happiness rightWhere you areI like to dance with the waterThe undertow and the wavesThe water is mischievous (ha!)I like how it misbehavesThe village may think I'm crazyOr say that I drift too farBut once you know what you like, wellThere you areYou are your father's daughterStubbornness and prideMind what he says but rememberYou may hear a voice insideAnd if the voice starts to whisperTo follow the farthest starMoana, that voice inside isWho you areWe make our nets from the fibers (we weave our nets from the fibers)The water is sweet inside (and we taste the sweet inside)We use the leaves to build fires (we sing these songs in our choir)We cook up the meat inside (we have mouths to feed inside)The village believes in us (that's right!)The village believes (ha!)The island gives us what we needAnd no one leavesSo here I'll stayMy home, my people beside meAnd when I think of tomorrowThere we areI'll lead the wayI'll have my people to guide meWe'll build our future togetherWhere we are'Cause every path leads you back toWhere you areYou can find happiness right -Where you areWhere you are----You're Welcome----LyricsOk, ok, I see what's happening hereYou're face to face with greatness, and it's strangeYou don't even know how you feelIt's adorable!Well, it's nice to see that humans never changeOpen your eyes, let's beginYes, it's really me, it's Maui: breathe it in!I know it's a lot: the hair, the bod! When you're staring at a demi-godWhat can I say except you're welcomeFor the tides, the sun, the skyHey, it's okay, it's okayYou're welcomeI'm just an ordinary demi-guyHey!What has two thumbs that pulled up the skyWhen you were waddling yay highThis guy! When the nights got coldWho stole you fire from down belowYou're lookin' at him, yoOh, also I lassoed the sunYou're welcome! To stretch the days and bring you funAlso I harnessed the breezeYou're welcome! To fill your sails and shake your treesSo what can I say except you're welcomeFor the islands I pulled from the seaThere's no need to pray, it's okayYou're welcome!Ha, I guess it's just my way of being meYou're welcome! You're welcome!Well, come to think of itKid, honestly I can go on and onI can explain every natural phenomenonThe tide, the grass, the ground, ohThat was Maui just messing aroundI killed an eelI buried its gutsSprouted a tree, now you got coconutsWhat's the lessonWhat is the take-awayDon't mess with Maui when he's on the break-awayAnd the tapestry here on my skinIs a map of the victories I winLook where I've beenI make everything happenLook at that mini-Maui just tippity-tappin'Well, anyway let me say you're welcomeFor the wonderful world you knowHey, it's okay, it's okayYou're welcome!Well, come to think of it, I gotta goHey, it's your day to say you're welcome'Cause I'm gonna need that boatI'm sailing away, awayYou're welcome!'Cause Maui can do anything but floatYou're welcome! You're welcome! And thank you!GO AND BUY THIS NOW!!!

An absolute classic by all standards
This has got to be, without doubt, Disney Pixar's finest achievement to-date. Despite having to watch this a hundred times each week (as our two-year old just loves it), its stays entertaining time and time again. The production quality raises the bar so high, I don't see how this film can ever be matched. On watching this, you can just tell how much time, effort and money has gone into its creation.- The story is refreshing, entertaining, and can be appreciated by all audiences.- The animation and visuals set a new standard. Historically, items that were hard to animate such as water and hair were best avoided, but here we see them illustrated as close to perfection as possible- The songs and music are excellent. Usually Disney songs tend to grind after watching a few times, but these are just brilliant. The vocal talent is outstanding (who'd have thought Dwayne Johnson would be able to pull off those high notes so well?!). Its pretty embarrassing getting caught whistling the tune to "you're welcome" at my desk... The Bowie-esque performance by Tomatoa is unusual in comparison, but yet amazing in its own right.- The moral about taking from the environment is not overdone, but important. It ties in well with the perfect compliment of character development and humour. The story also touches on feminine independance and multiculturalism. Its a fantastic blend of subject matter.- The humour is well-written, and at times subtle. The interaction between Maui and Hei Hei the chicken is brilliant; I laughed out loud as he stared at the chicken who was failing miserably to eat his food.Overall, there's nothing much more to add than that this is a new classic by all standards. Excellent in every way, and will entertain us for years to come.

Pretty decent Disney cookie cutter girl power movie
The latest in Disney's increasingly cosmopolitan not-a-princess protagonists, Moana is the daughter of an island chieftain who defies his orders to not sail on the open sea and proves that self belief is more powerful than fearful conservatism, or something - easy for her to say when she has both a demigod and the sea itself on her team, but hey, as long as we get some song and dance numbers then all's well that ends well. It verges on being a bit right-on at times, and Moana herself is such a flawless paragon it's hard to conceive of a story where she doesn't triumph (literally her only flaw is not having ENOUGH ego and self-assuredness), but remind yourself that Disney is openly courting the mainly female, woke Tween market these days and it all makes sense. Girls are allowed silly power fantasies too and in that context Moana isn't too bad.The DVD was a little long to hold my 4-year olds attention but she laughed along with Maui and the funny animal characters, and the theme song has become a favourite to watch on Youtube, so thumbs-up from her, too.

Family fun and great songs!
We thoroughly enjoyed this film and would recommend for all - some of the songs are certainly catchy! A few slightly scary moments which may not be suitable for very young children.
