Great pedal
You can use the amp without the pedal, but it's well worth the £50, as you can quickly change all parameters with the click of a button, and save up to 128 of your favourite settings, rather than just 12 with the amp alone. The pedal arrived very quickly, in excellent condition, and was well packed. I was well pleased, and would highly recommend this dealer.

Absolutely fantastic ....
Cheaper on other websites. But... ‘oh my ! This is the best solid state amp in this price range by some margin!Would definitely recommend.

Robust controller. Does the busines.
This is my second one of these. (one for home and one for the studio) My first is 6 years old, has been thoroughly gigged and abused, spilled on and dropped. It still works perfectly and I can't see any reason why the new one should be any different. There is about 0.2 seconds delay between pressing the pedal and the head reacting and some people complain about this, but I have found while playing live I actually use this to my advantage, changing the patch just before the beat so I can concentrate on singing on the beat. I'm just used to it now I guess.

Great addition to the Blackstar combo
This is just what I needed to finish add to my Blackstar ID 60 watt combo. Great piece of kit allowing all the programmable features of the amp to be dealt with at your feet whilst you play

DOES NOT WORK!!!!
I am so very disappointed with this product, which I bought to go with my excellent ID series Backstar amp.It arrived well enough, packaged well in a nice sturdy box. I admit that due to time pressures I left it for a couple of weeks before I tried it, and when I did I could not help but be really disappointed with what I found.I read the manual - it only took me 5 minutes as, though it is a fairly thick book, it is in a multitude of different languages. The instructions were sparse to say the least.I plugged it in. The moment I played a note on the guitar the display started flashing. It went from preset 128 to tuning mode to another random preset, back to tuning mode, to presets that increased the volume, then eventually back to dashes on the display, and nothing. There are no trouble-shooting guides. I looked on the Backstair page and there is a forum from 2015 which describes much the same experience that I have had, though I could see no solutions.I called Blackstar's service number. Of course they wouldn't be there outside office hours, so it just rang and rang until the answer phone kicked in. Not to worry that I have to work for a living, and cannot afford to take a day off to call Backstair so that they can diagnose a problem with something that should work in the first place.Clearly there is something wrong with the footswitch and how it is made. Mine is broken, the people on their web forum, posting in 2015, all had theirs broken, and I cannot see a response which solves the problem from Backstair. So, I would seriously recommend anyone considering buying one of these to stop right now, and make sure that whatever issue that Backstair clearly have right now is addressed in full. Until then, stay well clear as you are wasting your money.

Expensive but solid , eases amp functions.
A tad expensive but is solid. Improves amp function/settings when gigging. No hands needed to change effects etc. a must for this amp range.

Could be better - i use it with my ID60 amp which is in itself 'awesome' - this pedal is necessary if your giggin. It does have some issues tho. Theres a noticeable delay when changing channels which is really annoying, this is due i think to the dual functionality of each switch, ie you can tap the switch which does one thing or press it to do something else. You can programme lots of sounds more than enough for gigging, but I found it difficult to remember which is which as they are simply numbered ie (1-4 bank 1) (5-9 bank 2) ETC. There's no LCD display on it and in my opinion expensive for what it is. I think these are common complaints and hopefully Blackstar will sort it eventually. In fairness i have got used to it and use it all the time, if your gigging the pedal is a necessity. good luck
