Q: what is this made of?

Some sort of metal (tin maybe?). I've still got the label on mine but even that doesn't say what exactly it's made of.

Q: What’s the measurement of the flat base?

Hi Tobi - The base is 289mm overall and will take a 225mm (9") cake. The total height is about 170mm including handle and will approximately take a 100mm (4") high cake. By the way the base is not actually flat but sculptured to take the lid and form an air tight seal. Worked brilliantly for last years Christmas cake, we love it Regards

I am sorry about the loss of the cake tin seal but afraid that I cannot help you. I believe Lakeland sell the Living Nostalgia range. They might be able to put you in touch with the manufacturers. I think it is made in America but do have UK distribution network. I hope you can find a seal, it's a lovely cake saver.
