Classic Hand Warmer
If you suffer from cold and/or painful hands, then you need one of these 'S-Boston' catalytic burner hand warmers. I've read lots of reviews for all the most popular hand warmers available before buying this model. I briefly considered the charcoal burners and the new breed of electronic/rechargeable, but in the end decided that one of the catalytic lighter fuel burners would offer most - the 'S-Boston', the Zippo, the Whitby Warmer and the Peacock being the main contenders in this market. There a number of key issues that you might consider important, as I did, for this device to perform its job effectively.* It must be capable of getting warm/hot enough and for as long a period as is required, often all day long.* It must be fuss free, easy to operate and odour free.* It would be very useful to be able to turn it off whenever you want.* The quality of construction, fit and finish of the component parts must be very high.* The cloth or leather pouch must be fit for purpose and also of high quality, so as not to burn your fingers.* It must be big enough to warm both hands easily.* The price vs. quality must be acceptable.* The fuel must be easily available when away from home. There, you see I didn't want much from this hand warmer. Be warned though, the 'S-Boston' gets seriously warm - (up to 75 degrees C).I'm very pleased to say that having chosen the 'S-Boston', it has so far delivered on all counts. When you read those reviews for the other contenders, you will quickly realise that the Zippo and Peacock aren't able to tick all of those boxes.Just some of the advantages of the 'S-Boston'... 1) It's built as good as it looks. 2) You don't need to faff about using lighters or matches every time you want to use the warmer. You simply depress the ignite button on the top corner for 20 to 30 seconds and away it goes. 3) You can turn it off! Yes you read that right, you can actually turn the 'S-Boston' off whenever you want. No tricks required, like placing the warmer in a sealed bag or a tin to starve it of oxygen. With the 'S-Boston' you just slip the two halves apart (Top and bottom), rotate one half half by 180 degrees and slip them back together. This places the fuel outlet up against a rubber seal, cutting off the fuel supply in a matter of seconds. Just a few minutes later and it's cool enough to handle, wait just a few minutes more and it's cool enough to slip in your pocket or bag.Okay the price is considerably higher than any of the other potentials, but as with most things in life, you generally get what you pay for. Just review those bullet points again and compare what you do get with the 'S-Boston'. The icing on the cake - the big smile on my wifes face when I gave her the 'S-Boston' and she tried it for the first time. That alone was well worth the extra cost.If you want my advice then use Zippo fuel as it certainly achieves the 'zero odour' requirement. As a 110% satisfied buyer, I whole heartedly recommend the 'S-Boston' as IMHO the #1 product. Well done 'Pinetree' for providing an excellent product and delivery service too.

Perfect for the job and works well
I have been using this hand warmer for quite a while now and i have to say its brilliant. It takes 2AAA batteries in the top of the unit and using the supplied bottle you measure and fill the base of the unit, place the two halves back together, give it 5 min for the fluid to soak in then press the button on the top for 10 seconds to start ignition and the unit will start to warm up.one filling of 15ml of lighter fluid lasts all day, but you can also turn it off if you want and then re-ignight it later on if you wanted. its a brilliant piece of kit that i would highly recommend, very easy to use and refill and gets pretty warm

The Zippo is good solid metal in full
I have just received this earlier today and have had the similar zippo variation for a short while now so can do a quick little comparison from my perspective. On opening and picking up, I found this little thing to have a bit of a cheap feel compared to the Zippo. The material does make the difference here, plastic and all that. The Zippo is good solid metal in full.As with the Zippo, this came with a pouch of sorts to put it in but also came with the batteries required for the unique function of self-lighting!As for the pouch itself, it lets an awful lot more heat through than the Zippo. The Faux?-leather warms up beautifully. There are also some gaping holes in it to let the air get at it. Whilst this does allow even more of that sexy heat out, it does unfortunately mean you have to be a bit more careful when wrapping your hands around it as the heat will nip at your hands in those unprotected spots. I still prefer this to the zippo though as that thing hardly lets any heat through -.-They also both come with a little fuel measure which acts as a filling device. This one is superior.Anyway, the two main selling points; The self lighting and the stop burning features. Not having to use a lighter to light it is sooo what I wanted. It's easy and just flat out works. Amazing. The batteries housed in the top of the device get as hot as the rest of it though. Is that safe? My knowledge on safe battery temperatures is rather limited :P I just think of people throwing them in fires and having them explode out and hitting them. The fuel cut off thing has yet to be tested as I'm seeing how long it burns. On first filling I'm at 8.5 hours and counting. As long as it's safe for batteries to be subjected to this kind of heat, I'd say it's an excellent buy. Will give 4 stars as I think the pouch could have a slightly better design for perfect holding in bare hands. Will update if it explodes or something ;)
