Well constructed
Expensive, make sure your patient can get in out bed before buying it.Dad has Parkinson's and struggles to get into bed, this protrudes from under the mattress and metal bars are present where he needs to get into bed. First use he freaked about these bars touching his legs, so had to remove it.Expensive item to sit in a spare room. I'll keep it maybe for when I'm an old foggy .

Finally feel safe at night
Having lived with fibromyalgia for over ten years, I have increasingly found myself falling out of bed over the past few years. It has become a regular occurrence and is not only distressing but I find it very difficult to get up from the floor due to the weakness in my muscles. At 53, I reluctantly decided that I needed a bed rail but didn’t want the traditional hospital style metal rails. I was delighted to find this, fabric-covered, with pockets and height adjustable. I bought it as a warehouse deal, saving £30 on a superb product just because the outer packaging was damaged. Highly recommend this to anyone experiencing similar issues.

Superbly made-could be difficult for an older person to operate.
My mattress is exactly 8” thick. So is at the maximum recommended thickness for this bed rail. This means that it’s the maximum thickness a person in bed could reach through the semicircular gap in the material to pull the bar to be able to lower the side. I consider 8” to be thin as the average mattress these days is 10-12” thick, so if this bed rail was used on a mattress that thick the bed occupant wouldn’t be able to access the cutout as it would below the level of the mattress. A thinner mattress could be accommodated down to a thickness of 5 1/2”, less than that and parts of the mechanism would stick up above the top of the mattress, creating a safety issue. The pull bar to release the side to fold it down through 180° is quite stiff. For a fully able adult it doesn’t present a problem. But frequently this type of equipment is used by older people with weakened limbs and they would find squeezing the release bar impossible, especially so if lying on the bed. If this bed rail can only be operated by a person standing by the bed it wouldn’t matter if the mattress was thicker than 8”.This Kmina rail is very easy to fit, and once in position is very, very secure. Particularly if the screws can be utilised to attach the arms that pass under the mattress to the bed base. Once those arms are in place then the legs can be very precisely set to the right height by means of the adjustable feet. The minimum diameter of the steel tubing is 22mm and it’s all powder coating to form a smooth and durable finish. All parts fit together perfectly, the material is strong and the zipped pockets big enough to hold a paperback as well as other bits and bobs.Would I buy this Kmina folding bed rail? I would definitely consider it if only for the superb way in which it’s constructed. But there are other styles available on Amazon that might be more versatile and easier for the user to use. A lot is dependent on whether the occupant of the bed is the person who will need to operate it.
