4-in-1 antifreeze refractometer ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, for automotive cooling fluid, Windshield washer fluid, AdBlue(DEF), automotive and industrial battery fluid measurement

It appears to do what it claims - assess levels of freeze protection in your heating system etc. I don't have any lab results to compare to the readings it gives but I haven't had any frozen radiator problems in my static caravan/cabin when I top up the system and this reads protection down to -13 degrees C and the winter temperatures reached that. There are no batteries, no moving parts and I can see this lasting a very long time indeed if you take care of it.

I checked it will distilled water, and it read spot on the zero. I then checked my car antifreeze, and it gave a reading that matched the specs of the antifreeze, so well pleased, I then checked my windscreen wash , and it read zero, meaning there was no frost protection at all, I drained and refilled with new windscreen wash checked reading again and it again matched the frost protection of the windscreen wash, so I now have frost protection in my car. Feel pleased. I had no idea that the windscreen wash was no good, it cleared the windscreen ok, but it would have frozen solid in cold weather.

If your a glasses wearer you will have to remove to use the viewfinder successfully, but this is the same for all of these. Seems to be of pretty good quality as much as anything nowadays is. i.e. It's not totally crap masquerading as a tool. The optical clarity seems good and you get a small screwdriver to adjust calibration with water. How accurate? I don't know this, I left my laboratory at home. It does seem to work well enough for the purposes of checking coolant, screen wash, adblue and battery acid. Must be used in daylight for accurate readings and since it's all down to how daylight refracts through the liquid I don't believe the daylight knows whether it's going through a posh refractometer or not. The pastic flap thing is ok but may be the thing that could break on it. But if looked after I don't see any reason for it to not keep working fine. It does not come with a hard case for protection just a pouch inside a cardboard box. You get 4 plastic pipettes also in the box. I have no others to compare with but this does what you would want it to do and the optics part are crisp and clear.

really good so easy to use my miss can use it and she blond (lolol) really net very simple just look and the very clear blue line tells you the tep how strong the antifreeze is right down to -40 my miss had go and use this has well all in very good very neat comes in nice case 10-10

Ive tested my unit and it seems that it was calibrated OoB, done control checking vs some liquids seems fairly accurate (when calibrated). NOTE: My order came in carton box, not in plastic one as some of the reviewers showed in their reviews

He podido determinar la temperatura del líquido calor-portante de mi instalación solar y me complace determinar que coincide con la que recientemente me han determinado. Ich habe im Laufe der Jahre viele Frostschutzprüfer ausprobiert – einige ungenau, andere unpraktisch in der Handhabung. Diese 4N1 hebt sich davon deutlich ab. Es ist einfach, präzise und vielseitig. Die Bedienung ist einfach: Einen Tropfen Frostschutzmittel oder Wischwasser aufs Glas geben, Deckel zuklappen und durch die Optik schauen – wie bei einem Fernglas. Sofort erkennt man den Gefrierpunkt des Mittels in Grad Celsius. Kein Rätselraten, keine komplizierten Skalen. Das Gerät funktioniert sowohl mit Kühlerfrostschutz, Scheibenfrostschutz als auch mit Batteriesäure – alles in einem Gerät. Bei mir zeigte das Gerät –40 °C an. Plötzlich war mir klar, warum mein Motor im Winter ewig kalt blieb – viel zu viel Frostschutz drin. Ohne dieses Refraktometer-Gerät wäre mir das nie aufgefallen. Fazit: Für den Preis ein echter Glücksgriff. Robust, exakt, schnell in der Anwendung – und das Ganze ohne Elektronik oder Batterien. Ich wünschte, ich hätte es schon vor 20 Jahren gehabt. Absolute Kaufempfehlung für jeden, der nicht in seinem Auto im Winter halbwegs frieren möchte.
