Absolutely amazing pet door!
I’ve been using the High Tech Pet Door PX1 for 3 weeks now, and it’s truly incredible. It works flawlessly and has made life so much easier for both me and my cat. Installation was super easy—I was able to set it up without any professional help. The best part is that my cat can eat and go freely without me having to do a thing. The door opens automatically when it detects his collar, and it does so smoothly and safely. Plus, the battery life is impressive—I haven't had to recharge or replace it since day one.All in all, this is a fantastic investment. If you have pets and want to give them freedom while keeping your home secure, I highly recommend it. It's worth every penny!

Easier than I expected, Works as expected!!
This product has been amazing so far. I expected the best at this price point and I was definitely not let down.Installation - With a hole saw and a jig saw you can get this done pretty quick. I think it took my neighbor and I about an hour and a half to install this and we did this with the door still in the frame.I took the outside piece (the smaller one) and centered it so the bottom of the opening was pretty close to my smallest dogs arm pit, put a level on it and traced it out. Used a hole saw for a starter hole for the jig saw (make a couple holes) and cut out the square. Once cut out I used a white waterproof silicone to add an extra barrier of sealant on the inside and outside pieces, this will also help with holding this in place as I have one of those really weird "Thermal" doors where its basically made of PVC and filled with foam so the screws only have about 1/4 inch of PVC to hold onto.Use - I have a Maltese (Dexter) and a Westie (Spencer), Dexter is a very skiddish dog and did not like to at first, the opening and closing of the door freaked him out and he would run away. There is a manual open button so I would press that and walk outside with a treat and no joke within 1 day they would use the door to go outside with me standing there and asking if they wanted to go outside. (I am still on day 2 of the door so I am not sure if they use it when I am not there but every time I ask if they want to go outside they use the doggy door and come back in) I will update in a week or so.Quality - You get what you pay for, its a great door. There are control knobs for each sensor so I have the inside sensor set a little lower so they have to be within 2-3 ft of it and the outside one bumped up like 2 notches so it opens once they get on the patio within 4-5 ft of it.Recommendations - I would highly recommend getting the battery for it, I am ordering one after I leave this review. It plugs in so if the power goes out your dogs cant go outside without you home.Security - The hole itself on the size I got is pretty small, a child would have a hard time getting through the hole let alone an adult or midget. The collars are "plug and play" so anyone with this type of dog collar could get it open but lets be honest, chances are slim someone would have the collar on them and even if they did the hole is super small they would probably use another point of entry... There are also buttons to enable or disable sensors so you can disable the sensors at night time if the dogs sleep with you if you are worried about security concerns.Overall - The product is great, I would just recommend having treats on hand and ONLY allowing your pets to use the new doggy door to go outside for a few days, once they get used to it the quality of life for your pet will go through the roof. Just like us they can decide to relieve themselves when they want to.EDIT : The collars come with enough "Strap" to fit on any size dog, once you install it, cut it to the desired length and then take a lighter to the frayed edge and squish it with your finger tips to keep it from fraying and pulling apart like a sweater...

Absolutely great!
I purchased this tentatively as the price was not low. However, the item is well made, functions beautifully and looks good on the door. It is not noisy and we installed it our master bathroom door which leads to our patio/backyard. The range sensitivity can be adjusted easily and the door closure wait time can be adjusted as well. We started out letting the door open when she got 4 feet near it then adjusted down to about two feet after a day. The dog figured it out in one day. Did a very short training session for about 15 min. When the door is down it is solid and will not let anything in that does not have the radio collar on. Installation was relatively easy. I am not a big fan of the cord but I since I love the door I will be purchasing the back up battery for it.

In short, this is an excellent pet door
In short, this is an excellent pet door. Go buy it.Pros:In contrast to “flap” style doors, which I have used before, there is no gap between the actual door and the frame. By design the door is completely sealed, which is great in colder weather.Wind does not keep the door from locking. Again, by design, on a windy day “flap” style doors may not lock, because the wind keeps the door open. This will not happen with this door. The ability to set different sensitivities for inside and outside is great. In my case there are stairs right outside the door and my dog is approaching the door from a different angle than on the inside. No problem with this door.I personally have no use (so far) for setting the door to deny entrance or in only. After all, I got it because I want my dog to be able to get in and out whenever he wants to. But having this option might be great for some people and it works flawlessly on this door.AC power. No more guess work when the battery has to be changed, not having charged ones at hand and the pet getting stuck outside because the power is too low to open the door. My 80lb Mastiff mix actually destroyed two “flap” style electronic doors, because the batteries where getting low and the door did not open.Cons:The key fop is very flimsy. It has not happened to me yet, but I can understand other reviewers complaining about how easy the key falls apart. I solved it by wrapping a rubber band around the key a few times. Electrical or Duct Tape might help too, but make sure you don’t cover the “speaker”Almost proprietary batteries. You will have to buy batteries for the key from the manufacturer. No going out to the store and get them quickly. My advice is to get some when you buy the door.Installing the door is a little tricky. Like the manual says, you might have to loosen the screws a little bit after installing when the door does not close all the way. It’s because of the pressure of the frame against the door.Price. Almost $400 is pricey. The door is very good, but that much?In summary, it took me about 45 minutes to install the door. That includes taking the door of the hinges, cutting the hole, “fine tuning” the hole to make the frame fit, putting the door back on the hinges and installing the pet door. That is actually pretty good considering I’m not in the handy man business. I’m very happy with the door so far. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the high price and the low quality key. If you can afford it, it is definitely worth buying.
