Advertised as: AKM 10KS, 80db Alarm, 4-foot/120cm Long Heavy Duty Chain Lock 3/8’’/10mm Thick Chain, 3 Customized Keys Function: When traveling and staying at hotels, I’m always concerned about leaving our bikes on our car’s bike rack. To at least make it more challenging, I use multiple systems employing U-locks, chains and cables. Cables are the least secure, followed by chains and then the U-bolt. I know that many portable grinders and bolt cutters can get right through my setup but, I still want to make it as difficult as possible. That’s why this lock system intrigued me. I like the idea of having an alarm built into the lock system. But unfortunately, I don’t think this system hit the mark. The locking system is based on attaching an electronic movement sensor to the lock. If the lock on the chain is moved, the alarm will sound. To use the lock, simply insert the metal stub into the plastic covered lock mechanism. Press the red button and hold it. After a few seconds you'll hear two beeps. At that point the lock is "armed" and the alarm will be set off by movement. Unfortunately, there are some flaws in design of the device. The first one has to do with the batteries. The alarm requires batteries which must be changed at times but there is no method available to monitor the battery level. The second problem is that the directions state not get the lock wet, otherwise it will damage the electronics. Almost every time we travel with our bikes, we inevitably encounter rain, and sometimes a lot of rain. If we happen to lock our bikes at night at our hotel and it rains, the alarm may fail. Lastly, I wasn’t impressed with the sensitivity of the system. Please see the attached video for a demonstration. The chain is four feet long and fabric coated to protect the finish on your bike. Although the chain isn’t visible under the fabric, it feels very heavy and will likely require some larger bolt cutters and effort to cut. The lock comes with a sturdy case and three keys which is a useful feature in case one is lost. Bottom line: Unfortunately, too many shortcoming in the design limit it’s usefulness.

I live in a sketch neighborhood in DC and bikes get stolen all the time. In my new place I cant physical bring up my bike to my apartment due to the narrow stairs and low ceilings. So I bought this to go around a large wooden pillar and I also use a U lock for the back tire and frame. And knock on wood, no one has attempted to steal the bike in 3 months since I got this. Its easy to use and seems real sturdy. I like it and would definitely recommend.

Good deterrent. The locking mechanism could be better (stronger), and the alarm is weak to me... Meaning, it needs to be LOUDER. For the money, it will do what I need it to do. **Great company to deal with. They reached out to me regarding my opinions and concerns. Very rare nowadays!

I mostly use in the front disk brake wholes ‘ its more secure way i found ‘ very well made its wrapped around in a cushion doesn’t scratch your wheels or paint and protects .. the alarm sound very loud once you lock it you need to press the red button and its gets arm .. the sensors are very alert and immediate ..
