Clear and Protect
Clear and Protect I am lucky to have some fabulous jumpers. This, I should declare, is due to three things: my petite size which means that I tend to be light on clothes, my age; thus having had longer to accumulate them and perhaps, most vitally, my generous wife and sister who have over the years bought me some lovely ones. Things can change, however, and one day I pulled out my absolute favourite jumper from the drawer only to find that it had a moth hole just in a crucial place. In a state of alarm I phoned my sister who suggested that I put my jumpers in the freezer as this would stall the moths’ development. My wife came in from shopping with our two young girls and as she opened the freezer and now panicking declared to our girls, “I knew he was working too hard, he’s put all his jumpers in the freezer!” I sent off for some Zensect mothballs from Amazon and also saw these wonderful clothes bags from Lakeland. They were delivered in a trice and in a rather wonderful large cardboard box with a lovely pull-to-open seal. The bags are clear so that one can see what’s inside. They are the perfect size. For the large and woolly jumpers one bag will be needed. For the finer more summery jumpers, however, I can fit in at least three. This also gives one the opportunity to protect one’s summer jumpers in winter and vice versa. One can also throw in a Zensect mothball, too, but I must confess I have not felt the need to do this. There are ten bags in a pack and each bag has a nice, easy to use plastic zip that seals the bag against moth intrusion. Use of the bags allows one to store and rotate jumpers so that they last even longer and I tend to slot them in the bags as soon as they come off my back our as soon as they are washed/dry-cleaned. They are set at a nice price point and I will be sending for more. My only teeny criticism is that the bags are very slippy and if one is building a stack of them on a shelf then they will tend to slip over one another. If one is putting them in a deep drawer then this will be less of a problem. All in all, I sleep more soundly knowing that the freezer can be used for storing food and my jumpers will be safe and well looked after inside these super bags!

Really useful bags to protect and store my knitting projects
Great bags for my knitting projects. They are larger than usual and the ‘zipper’ seems to be more robust than ordinary freezer bags.

Not bad but far cheaper from Lakeland
These are not particularly strong, plastic bags with a zip loc closure. They are fine for storing knitwear and should keep moths out if securely fastened. Personally, I wouldn't rely on that for my most expensive cashmere. For that I use Lock and Lock 9 or 12 litre boxes which are 100% moth proof. Don't expect these to last forever. They are more flimsy than Bacofoil zip loc food bags, although larger. I can easily fit three polo neck jumpers in one bag. The price is a cheek. Lakeland sell these at £4.49 for the same pack of 10 and even with postage, it is far cheaper to buy direct from Lakeland themselves, especially if there are some other items you might want to add to the order as orders over £30 are free of p&p. I recommend these for day to day convenient storage of jumpers, scarves and gloves. Bear in mind it is the knitwear that you are currently wearing which will attract moths as they prefer woollens which have not been recently washed. Of course it is the lava which eat your wool. The moths just lay their tiny white eggs and fly away to another garment. Clothes moths are identifiable by their white heads and buff coloured bodies. Lavender oil definitely keeps them away so rinse woollens in some if you can. (I find Tisserand lavender oil the best, on subscribe and save it is good value for 20mls).

Bought to protect woolen and silk items from carpet beetles.
Bought to protect woolen and silk items from carpet beetles. Had the unfortunate experience of bringing in carpet beetles into the house on freshly cut flowers from the garden. None of my clothing had been damaged by them thankfully by the time I discovered them but as I own several clothing pieces and pillowcases made from silk and wool, I decided to buy these bags to protect them in case the beetles sniff out the natural fabrics and decide to have a dinner party... These bags are relatively strong and spacious. They zip up easily. I submerged one under water to test its airtightness and no bubbles escaped. Bought more to bag all clothes/fabrics that lie in drawers whilst I'm dealing with these little pests as carpet beetles can eat cotton, linen too. There hasn't been any damage to the fabrics so far so the bags seem to do their job. I'll admit that I overfilled some of them but most still managed to zip up without a problem. If the blue zip pops out you can easily slide it back onto the bag, no need to throw it out. This only happened to me a few times when I overfilled the bag though. Only downside to these is that they are quite pricey. 90p per bag which is essentially just two pieces of plastic... On the other hand, they did their job and the batches I received were airtight. Would like to see them being sold in packs of 15/20.

Good value against the war with clothes moth
As expected good quality I have used them before

expensive
Nothing to complain about the product itself, but very pricy considering it is just a plastic bag similar to the ones (bigger) that you use to freeze food
