A portable fiber optic cleaver that rocks
This portable fiber optic cleaver came in concise packaging, and it does a great job as it was designed to do. Sliding to return the knife automatically is a clever and nice feature as well. It's a solid-built fiber optic cleaver, but not sure if this would be suitable for a pro whose job demands using this tool every single day because this is a portable unit.

So far it works well
This cleaver seems to do a great job. I have attached pictures from my fuser of the first three cleaves I did with this fiber cleaver. The cuts look good and are acceptable to the fuser. The fuser will tell you if you have a bad cleave, and the ends are not usable. But as you can see in the photos, the first 3 are nice and clean. I really like the auto return on the slide. That is a nice feature to have on a lower priced cleaver. I do wish I had gotten the one with the scrap fiber collector box. It was pictured with this one, but the description did not mention it. They have a different model with the collection box included in the pictures as well as in the description. I can live without the collection box. The cleaver does a nice job right out of the box, without any adjustments. I am happy, and can recomend this cleaver. It comes in a small zippered softsided box with instructions that could be better written, and two allen wrenches I assume are for adjustments and rotating the cutting wheel. I have made no adjustmentes.Again, I am happy with the cleaver and I see it getting plenty of use. I can recomend this unit

Not dependable- cleaver doesn’t work well!
I’ve tried to use this and it just doesn’t work well. You get what you pay for! I’ve been in the fiber optic business for 35 years and wondered if something this cheap might work, it doesn’t.

High Quality Optical Fiber Cleaver
This portable fiber optic cleaver is solid as can be. The look and feel of it says quality. This isn’t a cheap product, but rather a professional one. The instructions aren’t the best. It’s probably best to do a little search online to learn the ins and outs if you don’t know how to use one of these.Hint: for those who might say it doesn’t make a good cut – first, check to make sure you’ve completely stripped the fiber of any covering material. If you don’t, it can ruin the cut; second, clean the stripped fiber with alcohol BEFORE you cut it, not afterward; and third, make sure the cutting wheel is still sharp (more rotations to a new spot is best before it’s worn down too much). Finally, check your work with a VFL (Visual Fault Locator).Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? Yes, this is a professional portable optical fiber cleaver at a good price.

Extra Splicy!
Amazing value considering a few years ago a tool like this would be a couple hundreds more. While it checks all the boxes of a cheap Chinese tool, like a brand name created by a cat walking over a keyboard, grammar from hell in the manual, and crooked stickers, it comes for the price of a fast food meal. That's something! What we got is a tool that comes in a case with enough precision to get the job done. Means with a little bit of Youtube-University anybody can pull fiber optic lines in their home or small business. What great times we live in! So five star from a happy maker who love work over the top stuff!I took a few photos and hope it helps to make a decision.

Nice inexpensive compact cleaver, poor directions
I was unable to test this cleaver since I ordered this in order to begin practicing working with fiber media. I don't, unfortunately, have a tool to strip the fiber sheathing. However, this cleaver does have a nice case, a solid compact build, a good fiber media holding clamp, and multiple tracks to hold the fiber in place prior to cutting. For the price and the size, I think this looks like an exceptional value. My only strong negative is that the directions are complete garbage! So if you're not a complete novice like me, you should be able to make this work and won't need directions. A lot of the other fiber cleavers I've seen are much larger and more expensive, so I'd definitely give this a try if you need a portable option for the field.

Perfect for a traveling tech
I don't always need a cleaver, but now I have one in my tool bag just in case I need it. My old cleave was the size of an old lunchpale, cost a ton, and needed it's own carry case. This little cute cleaver is small enough to get lost within my tool bag, but the weird text on the black case will remind me of what's inside.Once the fiber is stripped we place it into the cleaver with the right amount of cladding removed and make that cleave. This cleaver has a bunch of magnets inside, one magnet holds the fiber in place and the other magnets engage when the top door is shut to allow for the top to stay in-place and the blade can be lifted and pushed against the glass to cleave/cut. Works well.

Not good enough *
Received the item, first use i notice the mechanics to lock the fiber was loose. It seems from factory the screw was over tight and tripped the screw hole or they send me a refurbished product. I tried to reach out directly but was only able to reach out to Amazon for a product return, that was not an option for me. Cleaving 1 out of 5 time good, very frustrating and stressful. The only good thing is has a lil fiber collection bin. If they willing to replace the product i will reevaluate the customer service and the product.
