The pen and customer service are both excellent.
This pen looks and feels impressive. At first touch it’s a bit heavy, but a lot of the weight is in the cap. If you put the cap to the side it’s very balanced. The nib (that’s the tip right?) is a bit thicker than I expected, but it makes for a beautifully smooth writing experience. The pen just glides. It comes with a cartridge compatible with an ink well, and short disposal cartridges. It’s also compatible with the Waterman Large Standard Ink Cartridges (which had I purchased previously). Being compatible with three different ink sources is convenient feature. The pen comes loaded with the “ink well” cartridge installed, and I was unsure of how to uninstall this. But the QR code and the excellence customer service people rescued me in all of 3 minutes. 5 minutes into opening, I had the disposable cartridge refitted, and I was writing things down.I’m just getting into journal writing, and while I love a good roller ball, but I’m fairly new to fountain pens. My dad on the other hand, gets a pen every year from his boss (he worked at the same hospital for 30 years). He happened to be with me when I opened it up, so he took it for a spin. Even with his experience of his Mont Blanc and his calligraphy pen sets, he was very impressed with this.I’ve only had it for a few hours, but I’m loving writing with a running hand. The ink flow is evenly distributed, the ink runs quickly but dries quickly, so I haven’t smeared it yet, and it writes well at all angles and speeds. So far I’m a big fan. This is going to be a tremendous help for unpacking my thoughts and improving my cursive penmanship. The $40 was worth it.Other things I noticed:1. The customer service was excellent. They immediately connected to FB messenger, which I use routinely, and knew precisely the questions to ask.2. The packaging was sturdy and well made. It had a bunch of dried ink inside the box which was a bit weird, but nothing on the pen or in the case, just on the protective laminated paper which houses the case.3. The cap has 3 parts: the little nub on the top, the paper clip thing and the cap proper. The cap has cheap plastic threads which connect the nub to the cap proper. But this is probably never going to be relevant. All the rest of the materials are metal and they seem sturdy. If the pen breaks in a few days, I’ll come back with a follow up, but for now, I think I have a new favorite pen.

Exceptional value
I have collected and used fountain pens since I was a teenager. Amongst them are Mont Blanc, Watermans, Parker , Schafer and the like. This is important because rather unfairly this is what I’m gauging my new Ellington fountain pen against. So value for money it wins hands down being several hundred pounds less than all the others. Quality of build and fit is excellent and equal to many of the others. Nib and ink flow are first class. Most impressive is the smoothness of the medium nib, it doesn’t scratch in any direction even when a firmer pressure than normal is used. The only slight concern is the small size of the cartridge, personally I will use the three that arrived with the pen and then use the refillable plastic cartridge and Watermans ink. The pen will accept the longer Parker or Waterman cartridges so if I’m stuck I’ll use one of them. All in all for anyone wanting a first class fountain pen that writes as smoothly as wax that is probably the best value I can heartily recommend this.

Good value for money
A great birthday present, the box of the pen was damaged however which was a little disappointing as it was a gift. But the pen itself is great.

Best fountain pen I have ever owned
I always like a fountain pen but they were always for occasional use. This one changes that to an everyday use!Great weight, very smooth writing and the nib is spot on - can see myself buying more in the future.I even use this to scribble notes in meetings instead of the old biro!
