…..quality production, a “spin off” from the Series Heartbeat, set in North Yorkshire in the 1960’s.Hospital life with incidents, sickness, health issues, and still relevant today.There is humour as well as grief and tragedy, humour and irony.Receptionists, Porters, Administrators, budgets and fundraising.Doctors, Nurses, and the issues they face, and touching on their personal lives.And the spirituality depicted by a Roman Catholic Sister working on the wards as a nurse.

liked that the series was a follow up to Heartbeat in a time that was great.

Set in a Yorkshire cottage hospital in the 60's series 2 continues the story of The Royal.Again, there is a good mix of drama,tragedy and humour.The acting is excellent with a group of regular characters you grow to love.Daily events at The Royal are interwoven with the personal lives of the central characters. However,at the end of series 2 you are left wanting to know what happens next.As there were only 8 series in total, it would have been good if ITV could have released the other 6 on DVD. A bit like reading 2 chapters of an 8 chapter book!!!

Whilst I have to say I loved THE ROYAL during its time on TV having watched many episodes of it being filmed and interviewing many of the cast members I have to say that ITV will let you down on these release.There are no further plans at this time to release anymore episodes on DVD so only Series 1 and 2 is available and due to copyright and repeat fees many of the original songs used in various scenes when they were first broadcast on ITV have been replaced with other inferior tracks making once great thought provoking scenes wishy washy with no emotional impact.

A lovely gentle programme which was a favourite of mine. Well worth a watch. I have got series 1 and 2 but cannot source series 3 and 4 which is disappointing.

The Royal is one of the best shows that have ever existed. It has drama, it has funny moments, it has joy and it has tears. One of the finest television series to come out of Britain ever.The product was perfect, lived up the my expectation and to the description on here. The delivery was swift (four days - and I'm from Scandinavia). I would definitely recommend anyone to purchase this and I cannot wait till season 3-8 come out on DVD.

I enjoyed every minute of both Series 1 and 2 of the Royal, but very disappointed not to be able to get any more. I can remember watching it when it was on television and would love to now see all the remaining series on dvd. Come on ITV Studios, don't leave us in suspense.

I really enjoyed this series and wish there was a way to buy some of the other seasons. It was received faster than esimate and arrived in good condition

Beware if ordering for USA - when I purchased this DVD the disclaimer box stating that it will not play in most USA DVD devices was not shown for this Series Two - it only showed on Series One. So like a sap I ordered it - and low and behold it did not work and then I went to check my orders, now the disclaimer is showing on the page.
