I am afraid that I don't know the whole answer to your Question. Here is what I have discovered. The originals are hand carved by Susan Lordi in the USA and then sent to China to be cast in resin, then they are hand painted, so it seems that part of the system is mass production.

I love the willow tree collection I have. Few myself but not loads like an or enemy cabinet or anything but my sons away this Christmas which is breaking our hearts so he’s sent me some money to buy lotsIf goodies for everyone for crimbo and He asked it they did a big sister little brother one of course they did lol so I bought it was extremely well and securely packed and posted I took a photo and he love it. , it is beautiful but I know when she opens it we will all cry coz we’re very tired but family and very close!
