I’m considering the dewalt and bosch versions of this saw as well. has anyone had experience with the makita v either the dewalt or bosch? thanks

The DW779 (upgraded it to a DW780) only held a spot in my garage for 14 months before it got evicted. Do yourself a favor… ELIMINATE DW from your list of possible options for ALL tooling. The motor actually took a solid 3-4 seconds to rotate at 100%… and the motor was probably only 1/64 HP… too weak to put on a 12” miter saw. It would get bogged down cutting 2x4’s… and then take forever to cut oak… and burn it; that’s after upgrading the blade to a Spyder blade too. If you want to continuously replace your tools, keep buying dewalt. As far as the Bosch version; the US model doesn’t have a laser, where the EU version does. For me, that’s an automatic elimination factor… if Bosch would get over themselves and add the laser, it’d be stiff competition. Really, the only other option is Hitachi/metabo…. And I just haven’t researched them. At one point, I owned nearly all Hitachi cordless tooling; 12 years later, they’re still going strong… (6 1/2 circ saw, impacts, drills, grinder etc…) and actually my favorite slider miter was my Hitachi until this guy forced its way to the top. I wouldn’t rule-out Metabo, but research and hands-on experiences would be required.
