Why are there two ashwagandha ingredients compared to other brands like Organic India that only show one?

Great question! Our answer might be a bit elaborate but Himalaya has been doing this since 1930, so we’ve had a few harvests to get our processes right! To explain, different parts of each plant have different amount and even types of compounds. Sometimes, we only want one part of a plant, like a tomato or an apple, but in plant medicine, often the compounds we need are found in the roots, leaves or even the flowers and the fruits in different concentrations. As such, to get a full-spectrum and holistic profile of the plant chemistry, we use different ways of extracting, for example, using water, alcohol or super critical CO2 to concentrate those compounds into the most potent forms so you don’t have to take too many pills. You will see the fruit of that effort and specialization in the back of our labels where we go through the effort to show which parts of the plant was extracted, how much was concentrated, and even at times the way we extracted it. You will also notice that we often include a standard marker in our supplement facts box, in this case, ‘withanolide’. To explain, after we extract and concentrate any plant medicine, we need to make sure that each batch is as close to the last batch we made. In plant chemistry, we call this certainty a ‘plant fingerprint’ and it helps us to make sure that every tablet we make is consistent in strength, purity, and efficacy. In fact, we performed clinical trials on our Ashwagandha extracts using the same withanolide fingerprint you see on the back of our bottles to make sure we did it right and to make sure that no matter where our Ashwagandha goes in the world, our customers can expect the same great Ashwagandha effect! If we didn’t measure for that same fingerprint with every batch we might not know if it is the same strength as last time or even if we harvested at the right time! That mistake is often why some people will try an herb but will get different results from bottle to bottle. It’s because the product wasn’t studied for a standard fingerprint to ensure batch-to-batch consistency. All of this work goes on in the background and among our over 200 scientists on staff to ensure that your expectations match our product promise but unfortunately, all that science is hard to fit in a supplement facts box and that’s why it can sometimes be confusing to read in the back panel. Does this have carbs? If so, how many?

Hi. The label does not list a nutritional breakdown. It does not have any additives or gluten just three types of Ashwaganda. Hope this is helpful.

is the mg of ashwagandha 250 or 500 per capsule?

It says it is 10 mg of supercritical root extract, 280 mg of root extract and 380 mg of root powder. The first two are standardized, and all are organic. And it gives a total of 2.96 mg of Withanolides.

A great multi purpose remedy to many illnesses....

I have been using this product for many years, specifically to help with sleep and long term serious illness. Amongst other Ayurvedic products it has given me more equilibrium to my life and helped to move me from being bed bound to some degree of functionality. This company offered excellent service and great communication so would use again.

I cannot recommend this

I have taken Ashwagandha - usually together with Ginseng and/or Rhodiola - for some years. My usual brand and combination has disappeared from Amazon so this seemed a reasonable substitutue. Unfortunately the product gives me palpitations. I don't know if it is because the instructions say to take it on an empty stomach, rather than with food as is more usual. Or if I have been diluting the potency of the herb with the two others I usually take with it. Or perhaps the problem is to do with the conditions under which it is prepared. Whatever, it says on the bottle 'not a cardiac stimulant', but I would take this with a large pinch of salt. I don't see that anyone else has had this problem with the supplement. I hope you don't. Palpitations are uncomfortable and worrying. As someone with a thyroid condition I know them well. They usually cut in when I have taken too much thyroid supplement.

No effect since changing tablets and packaging

When I purchased this I received the new packaging and the tablets were different also. It also came from India so took ages. Himalaya should change the picture because what appears on Amazon is not what I received. When I contacted the company, I was informed that the tablets were the same but I don't believe this - whereas before it was recommended to take only 1 tablet, the new brand advises to take 2. The tablets don't even smell or look the same. The information on the new packaging regarding the contents is very vague and not as detailed either, it actually says its for 'men's wellness!' I didn't feel the beneficial effects of Ashwaghanda either - in fact I didn't feel anything. I don't know why Himalaya have changed what was an excellent product. I shan't be buying these again..

Pienso que la Ashwagandha es un suplemento esencial para los hombres. Yo lo tomo en épocas con mucho desgaste físico y/o mental y me va de maravilla. Es un adaptógeno, ayuda a reducir el estrés, la ansiedad y la fatiga y a descansar mejor. Tiene también otros efectos beneficiosos documentados (ayuda a controlar la glucemia, aumenta la producción de testosterona, es neuroprotector, etc). No parece tener efectos secundarios importantes si se toma en dosis normales y durante una temporada, únicamente molestias gastrointestinales en personas sensibles. Si tomamos alguna medicación también tenemos que tener en cuenta posibles interacciones. El Ashwagandha puede bajar la glucemia, si tenemos diabetes y estamos tomando medicación para ello tendríamos que tenerlo en cuenta. Esta marca no es barata, pero está muy reconocida. Está fabricado en la India bajo unos altos estándares de calidad. No son cápsulas, son tabletas pequeñitas (ver foto) que se tragan con facilidad y solo hay que tomar una porque incluyen tanto la raíz en polvo, como su extracto, por lo que son más potentes que los suplementos que solo llevan raíz en polvo. Después de dos semanas tomándolo he notado mejora en el sueño y menos ansiedad. Estoy contento con la compra.

Ottimo prodotto a un prezzo concorrenziale. L'ho preso (e continuo a prenderlo) e trovo giovamento, soprattutto mi da più energia e mi fa sentire meno stanca e mi sento più calma e concentrata. E' in tavolette di dimensioni ridotte che si inghiottono facilmente.
