Company Very Helpful
I bought the energiser in August this year along with a new battery. When the energiser failed in November, I contacted the company and they couldn’t have been more helpful. They suggested some things to try, which I did but unfortunately it still didn’t work. I sent it back on Wednesday and have received a brand new energiser this morning (Saturday).Excellent customer service and very prompt reply to messages.

Packs a decent zap. As I found out.
I own a stallion, he’s in a field with his companion gelding next to a field of my mares.I opted for x-stop because it’s a brand I do know, other battery operated electric fence energisers I’ve used in the past didn’t live up to the hype. This energiser is hooked up to an Agri Battery (meant for electric fencers) and a solar panel. My little Stallion will not touch the fence (and neither do I when it’s on!) it’s got a rather cloud *click* when it pulses, so if you have a horse that tests fences because it can’t hear the unit making a sound (which I have found a lot are pretty quiet) this may do the trick. May have helped my guy was actually soaked with rain when he first touched it.The energiser itself is sturdy, and heavier than most, meaning even in strong winds, secured to an electric fence post it barely moves. The earth stake is also pretty sturdy with a decent length of wire so if like me you have a rocky type field, it’s got enough length to find a decent spot to put it deep enough into the ground to earth properly. The heart loop that attaches to the fence is ideal, hasn’t moved from where I hooked it up and even in strong winds hasn’t slipped off or moved which I have found with normal crocodile clips. The wires that hook to the battery are also a decent length, so if you have mouthy youngsters (or even cows) you can attach it far enough away from the fence to stop them playing with it.All wires are pretty sturdy, as are the attachments. You honestly can’t go wrong with this energiser.Has a decent shock, it secures my little stallion and is value for money.

Lasted less than a year - avoid at all costs
It worked well and was easy to install, but in less than a year it had stopped working. No external damage, and had been kept under a plastic box so it wasn't exposed to the weather, but just stopped working. We bought another - it lasted a bit longer than a year - but not much. We were sent a replacement for the one that broke within a year (although I had to pay postage!) and that one also lasted less than a year. I have now tried this make 6 times and every single unit has lasted either less than a year, or just a month or so longer than a year. AVOID. They are clearly not fit for purpose. I have to assume the quality is simply very poor and they aren't made to be used for any period. I shall not be wasting my money again with these - they may be a bit cheaper to buy, but in the long run they work out very expensive.

So Far So Good
Only used it for a few months so can’t comment on longevity yet.I’ve always bought one of the leading brands which have been great. This is basic but that’s absolutely fine for the price, e.g. there is no on/ off switch (it is on if both ends are connected to the battery, and off if not). And no option for high or low modes - again, absolutely fine for the price. If I needed another unit in the future, I’d definitely buy again.

works well good value
works well and good value. Compact and lightweight. Main criticisms are it could do with an on/off switch and the earthing stake seems very small - not a problem in wet ground, but might be in dry ground

No switch to turn off!
Great waterproof energiser I purchased to go with a solar panel. It works fantastic and so easy to set up.Only thing is usually energisers have an off switch, this does not so I have to open a special waterproof box to turn off my solar panel to get access to mend any fencing. But apart from that it’s fantastic and works really well my horses are terrified of the fencing. Would be easy enough to turn off if attached to just a battery etc.it’s very compact and small and can easily hang from anywhere with ease as not heavy.

It does the job - well!
It's a fence generator with a good strong zap. I have it hooked up to a small car battery, solar panel and charger for a fraction of the price of the "Solar Fence Energisers" on sale in the local agri shops. The hook on the fence live wire is a really nice touch - simple, effective, easy to unhook and looks like it will last a long time.
