Renewed - Better than New
"Amazon Renewed is your trusted destination for pre-owned and refurbished products that are inspected and tested to work and look like new." It says this in the product description, and it's really true! Refurbished computers that I have purchased in the past have looked a bit tired and have come in makeshift packaging, but that is not the case with this product, and the way that it runs does not disappoint either.I used to look after my company's IT before I retired and always found Lenovo's solid build quality and reliability particularly impressive both in their laptops and their PCs. That applies equally to this machine which I bought to replace a much older Lenovo laptop running Windows XP. The old laptop was still in good working order, albeit that the hard drive had needed to be replaced a couple of years ago, but I felt that I had finally come to the end of the road with Windows XP.The new (renewed) machine came with a fresh installation of Windows 10 and Bullguard antivirus. I was pleased not to find any bloatware, but decided to uninstall the Bullguard, replacing this with AVG free. The supplied Windows 10 was a very recent version, and it did not take long to download and install the outstanding Windows updates. The laptop didn't come with a manual, but I was able to download a user guide in PDF format from the Lenovo website. I also downloaded Lenovo Vantage, an application that makes it simple to update your drivers, run device diagnostics, request support and discover apps. Getting Lenovo Vantage was f.o.c. but involved being redirected to the Microsoft Store where I needed to log in using a Microsoft account. From the expired warranty details displayed in Vantage I discovered that my laptop dates back to October 2013. It is a bit older than I thought, but I can't fault its performance. Back in 2013 it would have had a traditional hard drive rather than a SSD and probably a lesser amount of RAM. Upgrading these items has given the laptop a performance boost needed to cope with the extra demands of Windows 10 compared to the original Windows 7. This laptop comes with a DVD writer which was popular a few years ago but is not always to be found in the latest models. The laptop is very well specced with camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB3. The legal disclaimer says "This Laptop does not come with a Webcam", but mine has one which I have accessed using the Lenovo software that I downloaded. At the price which I paid this laptop is incredible value for money considering the spec and the build quality, and it is greener than buying brand new.

Very Impressed
Having decided to get rid of my venerable Toshiba Satelite purchased in 2007 i needed a quick processor speed and to be honest not really bothered about gaming or watching movies .I looked at reviews and the Lenovo Think Pad stood out for refurbished machines .To be honest my expectations were limited on appearance and expected scratches or marks but the item i received was mint condition and the only minor issue was battery life and the supplier upon being notified sent out a replacement battery in 2 days which was really appreciated .The speed at which it fires up and loads is so much quicker its like comparing a tortoise to a greyhound .I have usesd it for work from home for 2 days and im very happy with the speed of accesing the internet and the functionality of my programs .Its preloaded with Apache Window and it has worked very well and windows activation was straightforward .I would recommend this product and feel its good value for money as these machines when new would be quite expensive and they are quality items .

Good Value - if not quite as renewed as I had expected.
The T430, with the 8gb ram and the SDD makes for a snappy Windows 10 laptop. And given that I needed a Windows machine as I was unable to fully boot camp Windows to my Mac book, I did not want to spend too much money.Research showed that the T430 would do what I needed and the up grade specs meant that I knew that it would run smooth. And so far, two days in, it appears too. However, there is a specs up grade, which is great, but a lid covering black decal sticker, makes the lid look like new, but as it is covering over the lid surface, I am not sure what the true condition of the lid is, and I am unsure how long the sticker will stay fixed. There is also a crack around edging of the DVD drive, it's small and I can see that this is something that has happened due to age.So, it's pushing the term "renew" ; it's been up graded, but it has had cosmetic body work, which could be short term rather then replacing the lid, and as there is some cracking, then there has been no real renewing. The T430 works, it will last for a couple of years, it does what I need it to do, the up grade specs are good, the battery appears to hold a charge for 3 hours, but I do not think I would call the T430 truly renewed.
