The Scorch Trials: book 2 in the multi-million bestselling Maze Runner series, now a major movie

Truly amazing
Heart-stopping. Breathtaking. Full blown, kick ass action. When I first read The Maze Runner, which is the first book in the Maze Runner series, I was actually taken away by how amazing it was, and The Scorch Trials is the almost perfect sequel. Unfortunately, this does mean I have terribly high expectations for the last book, The Death Cure and the prequel, The Kill Order. But if Dashner keeps his writing quality up and the endless action, mystery and suspense as superbly as he did in his past two books, then there will be no problem.Characters we saw in the last book like Thomas, Teresa, Minho and Newt develop brilliantly well. I came out of this novel feeling like I knew Minho much better compared to the last book, where his presence was mostly fleeting. We saw a lot of his quick anger and hot headedness, but in this book, we get to see his love and compassion for his fellow Glader buddies, and it really sets a nice tone of how three dimensional these characters actually are.In addition to these, we meet so many new characters that are still so well developed (not including Jorge, who, sorry Dashner, but I felt like his personality changed a lot, however saying that, he wasn’t exactly a huge, huge character). Lots of the new characters are loveable and hateable - I was switching my opinion on everybody in the novel (new and old) so much just because of MAJOR PLOT TWISTS! And I mean major. I was on tenterhooks at the end of each short chapter - this book is not for the lighthearted! It was so amazing to learn more and more about the world Dashner has created, seeing these new people infected with the deadly disease we only hear a glimpse of at the end of The Maze Runner, called the Flare. We get to see more of the outside world and because we didn’t see any of that in the first book, it sure makes a very interesting read because it feels so new despite being the same world and same characters.I absolutely devoured this book, and although slightly a little disheartened by the ending (I’m a little hard to please with endings, so don’t get me started on the ending of Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins). I only say this because I felt it may have been a little repetitive, but I don’t want to spoil it for you guys if you haven’t read it yet. If you have, please feel free to chat to me about it! I’m absolutely foaming at the mouth for more, more, more of this series and I’ll be onto the next book in no time at all.

Absolutely brilliant!
After whizzing through the first maze runner book i instantly ordered the second, desperate to know what was going to happen next and I wasn't dissapointed. The book gets going at a fast pace which I liked as I hate books that take ages to get started. There are absolutely no dull or pointless parts like in some books and as the gladers make their way through the scorch they carry on gradually piecing together the puzzle and get slightly more knowledge of what's going on and why they're there but there are still some questions left unanswered which then makes you desperate for the next book! The scorch trials (known as phase 2 in the book) are much harder and nastier than the maze which after reading this seems very tame! The gladers have to endure lots of horrible things on their journey like extreme storms and the terrifying 'cranks' who are people who've caught the flare and have gone insane from it resulting in them becoming basically savage zombies! Plus lots of other horrors but I won't ruin it for you by telling you what they are. They're horrible! The characters in the book are the same as the first with a few new additions and none of the characters are irritating or tiresome (unless they're supposed to be) and you grow to like them as the book goes on and want them to survive. Minho is the leader of the group now and Teresa isn't with the group for a big section of the story which I wont say why (spoilers!)Absolutely brilliant story and I can't fault it! Finished it in a matter of days! Can't wait for the next one

Keeps up the momentum.
It was difficult to see where part 2 of this series was going to go after the release from the claustrophobic maze of part one but this is a real page turner, not relying on recycling the same format and introduces a whole host of different characters, monsters and angles. The compulsary race to get to 'safe haven' across a nightmare landscape is gripping, this time well written and keeps up a great momentum of action, intrigue and suspense.Thankfully the worst aspects of part 1 were largely missing from this book. Only slight 'Thomas...Thomas...Thomas' repetition where 'he' could have sufficed and just 'Thomas' plaque signs everywhere to make up for the previous lack of 12,371 references to the name. It's a great teen read. Probably a bit gruesome and nightmare giving material for under 12s but highly recommended for those who liked the Hunger Games.

In the middle of it
This is the next book from James Dashner in the Maze Runner Saga, and as I am writing this I am in the middle of reading it. The book has short chapters, like the one before it and sometimes I find it difficult to keep on reading when the chapters are so short. But he is a great writer, it's a good book, and I will get through it and read the rest of them because the characters in the book are just sweet and lovely.

More gripping than a crocodile clip!
I couldn't wait to get started on this sequel to The Maze Runner. As soon as the package arrived, I'd ripped it open and started reading. You are thrown straight back into the gripping story with all its action and suspense. This is a sequel that lives up to the first in the series, and in some ways even surpasses it. The pace of the story is perfect as you journey with Thomas and the gang through The Scorch. New characters are introduced and instantly accepted into the story. Freakishly believable and heart-racingly gripping, make sure you have purchased the next in the series before you've finished so you can get right into it.5 stars!

You just can't keep this down.I bet
The Gladers have escaped the Maze. But they don't know what lays ahead of them. If the first part left you as confused as Thomas this is going to drop you in the same boat AGAIN. The Gladers get an awful disease-The Flare. If you ask "why?" you need to know that the WICKED never give answers. Now they must travel through the Scorch to get the cure, battling mad Cranks(people affected by Flare) while at the same time battle with Group B. "what's Group B?" stop asking questions and survive, anyhow.Dashner is true to his word and takes you on wild ride again. Minho's gonna make you laugh in your heads with his saintly sarcasm in the most awful fixes.Dashner again leaves you wanting for more.PS I'd rather not reveal much....no spoilers!!

quick, let me have the next one!
Very exciting, sometimes a bit violent and frightening. More romantic than the maze runner. Interesting from a "gender studies" point of view.

Loved the book!
Just WOW! While reading it i just wondered how can someone write such a great book and this book made me huge fan of James Dashner! They go to the scorch.............well, i could really feel the heat of the Scorch! I was a little reluctant to buy the book at first coz i thought reading a book won't be as much fun as watching a movie, but it proved out to be better!
