May not be the purest UV light, but it works. Seems to illuminate many common surfaces to some degree, but those that luminesce, are in stark contrast. Have used it to identify calcite and fluorite. Did a sweep of the bathroom and it appears that my wife does a very good job of cleaning.

This light works great

GREAT light. I ordered about five different options, and this was the only one that worked. Very visibly shows dog urine when it’s dark.

I have a few Yooperlites (common rock from upper parts of Michigan and UP Michigan) and they have speckled fluorescent material. Before I got this, I had a cheap UV light that barely worked and only if I had the flashlight close and while it's dark, which made hunting for more Yooperlites useless.This flashlight was fairly pricey compared to the first one ($3) but it is of narrower UV range and has stronger output which meant I could hunt for rocks at night without having to crawl on the rocks. Also it's easier to see the glowing rock even under indoor lights, useful for show and tell type presentations.

The batteries were loose inside with no way to tighten up so it would intermittently function. Shaking it made it work, but very disappointing since all the rest of the reviews are positive.
