Excellent, well made
I am using this with a Darlac saw head and this pole is a really well made piece of kit. I have used a very expensive, professional, Silky brand on odd occasions and this Darlac pole stands up well against such a comparison. It's not in the same league as the SIlky but it is streets ahead of the £20 - £30 pole saws. It is easy to expand and contract to any of 9 different lengths and locks securely. Fitting / removing any head is very easy and the head is securely attached with a double locking mechanism. The pole is clearly strong and has some weight to it. I've used it at full stretch and I'm delighted with it.At about £70 for a pole and saw head it fills a yawning gap between the cheap stuff at £20 - £30 and the really expensive stuff that is at least £100 more expensive (and a lot more in some cases). Personally, for domestic use, I can't justify a more expensive saw and I don't want to throw my money away on one of the cheap ones. This seems to be the only option in this price bracket and it gets my recommendation.'scuse me now while I go and type a similar review for the saw head.

Superb
Excellent bit of kit. I have removed a number of overhanging branches at c.20 feet height from a tree on adjoining land, and am reducing one of my Portuguese Laurel from around 18ft to about 10ft (tree surgeon quotes for the latter are around £240, so the pole and the Darlac branch saw have already earned their keep). The extension mechanism is very robust, smooth and practical.I agree with others that the clip at the saw end is not robust enough. OK for general use but can be flipped open if used in thicker foliage (e.g. where there is ivy). I can resolve this by taping over it, but it is an area where the design could be improved. The unit is so good otherwise though that this only reduces my rating from 6 stars to 5!! :-D

Strong and well designed
This can be described as a professional peace of kit!….. Strong and reliable but that could be it’s biggest weakness, It is heavy and therefore unwieldy in any attitude but vertical?….. I am well impressed and am working on my arm strength in an effort to use it to prune at the side of the conservatory!…..😉🌻

Much better than competitors
I bought this with the loppers. Our neighbour has 7-12m leylandi. Every 5 years it gets cut down to about 7m.With this pole I can reach overhanging branches without a ladder, and then with a ladder as it grows.I previously used a friends wolf garten pole and loppers, (fairly old though but sharpened). The gearing works much better compared to the wolf, do I can chop the branches much easier and the pole is another 2m longer. Definitely recommend this

This pole is Brilliant my beach tree is a huge thing and the way it open and extends is easy and its a well built pole , you have to buy it with the awesome blade DP1565 Heavy Duty Saw Attachment . 10/10 Advice let the saw do the work you just move the pole up and down gently without swaying and in seconds it cuts threw the thickest branches .... The job i did needed a super long pole and this was the answer , well constructed and very easy to use , Consider this! the tree surgeon said he would do it for £350 and thats the lowest he would go , and i basicly demolished the tree in 30mins ,

Fabulous quality
What a fabulous tool. The whole system works like a dream. It seems a lot of money but it is so well made. Like a knife through butter. Only problem is my neighbours are so impressed they keep borrowing it!The long pole is a little unwieldy but I am happy to live with that. The reach is fabulous. would be great if there was some sort of belt you could buy to hold the base steady - like a standard bearer uses. You use one hand to pull the cord so only one hand is left to hold the 5m pole + tool attachment - unless you bring a friend.

Check what attachments you are needing
As an extending pole, it's great. It's very well made, feels strong and a perfect weight distribution when extended. My only gripe with it is that it is not compatible with other Darlac products. I was looking for an extending pole to clean gutters. I bought the Darlac gutter brush from the Swoptop range. It doesn't fit with this pole though. The sellers were very quick to offer a return and refund. I bought a different pole to attach the Darlac gutter brush to, but it isn't anywhere near as good as this one.If you are needing a pole to attach the tree pruning kit, this is definitely the one to use.

Good and solid but a couple of design flaws to be looked at (IMO)
This is a pretty solid piece of kit and with the saw and pruner attachments it's a potent piece of tree pruning gear. There are two pieces of feedback I'd like to give the manufacturer though: -1. The clip that holds attachments to the end of the pole keeps unclipping - as you pull the pole out of the tree, small branches tend to catch the plastic clip under its lip, which snaps the clip open and releases the attachment. This could be quite nasty if, for example, you're using the saw blade to pull a branch out of the tree and you're standing almost underneath (which sometimes you have to do to reach branches at maximum stretch from the ground). It hasn't happened to me but I could see the saw blade coming out and plummeting towards the ground. Nasty. This is a design flaw. The plastic clip needs to be reshaped so that is isn't prone to catching on branches, or there needs to be a deflector just beneath it on the pole, to deflect branches away as you pull the pole out of the tree.2. The two plastic tubes that serve as grips, at the base end of the pole, are not attached and can slip along the pole when you pull or push with it, which could be dangerous.Otherwise I am happy with this. The total cost of the pole, saw and pruner came to about £170 and it's already saved me much more than that on the cost of getting a gardener or tree surgeon in.
