Strong and effective
I fitted this to my existing pole - simply removed the saw attachment and pushed this in. The pole isn’t the same brand but it fits well and is secure.I haven’t used it extensively but have cut off a few branches. It went through 2 inch diameter branch easily.

Work well but heavy when on the pole at full extension.
These secateurs fit onto the pole ok and are secured with a catch. I was surprised though that once on top of the pole the weight of them made the pole difficult to use when at full extension. It’s also hard to see them when they are in the middle of tree and you are trying to lock them onto a branch. I might see if I can paint or stick on something highly reflective to aid location. Also because of their weight the pole can flex which also makes locking onto a branch difficult. On a thin branch I was able to work the mechanism by simply pulling on the cord. However, for a thick branch I did need to use the tee handle at the end of the cord. However, I found that the tee handle was below where I found it most useful to operate so I moved it up the cord and knotted the cord to retain it, but haven’t yet trimmed the cord. If the cord had been white rather than black, or some sort of bright colour I think it would have helped me see what I was doing when cutting a branch. The thickest branch I’ve cut so far is 40mm thick and it took a fair amount of tugging on the handle to make the cut. All things considered I’m very pleased with these secateurs.

Sharp and hearing mechanism works well
On the plus side fits the pole securely, is sharp and the pulley gearing mechanism works wellIt is heavy so does make the pole harder to position, but then I guess it needs to be solidly built to do the job - which it does wellThe negatives are the rope clips only for the bottom pole section which leaves a lot of rope unguided - the device still works, but it can see the pole flex a littleMore challenging isnit is practically impossible to hold the pole at 5m and pull the rope at the same time - an assistant to hold the pole once positioned makes the process easier

These are great
I bought this with the 4.9m pole. Our neighbour has 7-12m leylandi. Every 5 years it gets cut down to about 7m.With this pole I can reach overhanging branches without a ladder, and then with a ladder as it grows.I previously used a friends wolf garten pole and loppers, (fairly old though but sharpened). The gearing works much better on yhe Darlec compared to the wolf. I can chop the branches much easier, I also love how design of the clamp. You first hook the branch, while you prepare for the cut, then you can give it a good pull. With other manufacturers it would always move and was not easy to lock on at height.Definitely recommend this

Poor aftercare service
These can cut thick branches but requires considerable effort. Great for branches that are otherwise out of reach.Since the pole is oval, it needs to be used with the longest axis vertical. If you try using it horizontally, it will sag and be difficult to control. When used with the secateur it is that much harder to see if the branch has been completely captured by the blades. When you get it wrong you only get a partial cut. The pressure of the branch then makes release very difficult and you must rock the cutter horizontally to release the blade. If you are lucky, you have enough room to do so. If you do not, you risk breaking the blade which is brittle.I found out the hard way.Given I had only used it on 5 occasions, I contacted Darlac to see if the blade was available separate. Their customer service appeared to be quite good, except I was never sent anything. I chased this up. Again, they made the right noises but failed to deliver. My conclusion is that it works well, but use horizontally at your own risk. Contacting their customer service is a waste of time.

Heavy but seriously well built
We had a pretty cheap tree pruner before, and the head completely sheared off. This heavy duty head fitted onto the old (non Darlac) pole without a problem and is very secure. I have no worries about this thing breaking - it's built like a tank and feels like it could cut through almost anything.Compared with other pruners I've tried, this one has never had a cable jam and is incredibly easy to maintain - it's bolted together rather than riveted so it's easy to take apart for cleaning and/or oiling. The only thing that might be seen as a negative by some is the weight - when you have the pole fully extended and you're trying to cut something at a 45 degree angle, it takes some serious effort to hold it. However, the anvil nature means that you can hook the top over the branch you're going to cut and the teeth hold it in place while you deal with the cutting.Definitely going to look at Darlac before other brands when making future garden tool purchases.

Great product if your not so strong
This is an excellent product, if you are like myself which due to increasing disability with my upper body which has caused loss of strength and feeling in my arms, this product allows you to cut thick tree branches of around 2inches with little effect. My only thing I can fault the product on is that the pull cord is too short when using the up to 5meter extension pole at full reach, and at the 5 meter extension the unit is a little tricky to lift upright , so 2 people may come in handy. Otherwise the product is very strong but lightweight, and worth every penny as if you have tall trees like myself which have got rather tall, you can do so much yourself that it reduces the cost of a tree surgeon so saving money in the long run.

Works so well
This is magnificent. The whole Darlac Professional set is so beautifully made, robust, strong, practical. it just all works so well. The anvil really does cut through quite large branches/stems so easily. The head is actually quite compact so it doesn't catch on other branches like the traditional bypass cutter. My only negative is that you don't have much maneuverability to get it around the branch, you have to get the head perpendicular to the branch which means that you can only really use in on horizontal branches if you are working from the ground. There is no way to get it around a vertical branch unless it is quite low down and your pole is long enough to let you stand well to the side of the tree.
