If they don't change color, how do you know when they are saturated?

You can use weight method. If there's an increase up to 30% of its original weight, you can replace/recharge the beads. You can weigh the beads before and after use. For example, you can weigh 500 gram of beads to use. Later when the the beads weigh around 650 gram, you can replace or recharge the beads. You'll notice reduction in the weight after you microwave or bake the beads in the oven. Thank you.

What is the difference between the white, blue, and orange versions of dry & dry's silica beads?

Silica gel beads are white in nature. White beads tested the best in performance compared with colored beads. However, you can't tell when they are saturated with moisture with white beads. Therefore, cobalt chloride is added to white beads to serve as an indicator. Color changes from blue to pink when saturated with moisture. Cobalt chloride is known as carcinogen. Our beads contain less than <0.3% cobalt chloride. This is a trace amount and cobalt chloride poses a health hazard when ingested. With this trace amount, you'll have to eat very large quantities of beads to have negative effect of cobalt chloride. Cobalt chloride is easily washed off by washing with water and soap. As long as you do not eat the beads and wash your hands after touching the beads, you won't have to worry about cobalt chloride. Orange beads are free of cobalt chloride. Color changes from orange to dark green when saturated. Thank you.
