The Quilt

I gave a little class on quilts and had the children help make thier own quilt for my daughter's kindergarten class. I purchased several children's books on quilts and read them to her. This is the only one that held her attention the whole time. So I took the book to her class and read it. (Had the kids say/yell "Sally" at the appropriate time to keep their interest.) Then I had them use fabric transfer crayons on some white paper to make their own quilt. I transferred their designs and made them each their own mini quilt from their images. They LOVED it and it helped introduce a new craft/art form to the children.

I bought The Quilt because I am planning on making quilts with my 4th Grade Art students next year. My students LOVE Ann Jonas' books, Round Trip and Splash. The Quilt does not disappoint. The Quilt takes the readers on an imaginary journey to far away places...using the patterns of the quilt to help illustrate the story. My Kindergarten and 1st Grade Art students are facinated with this book. The story may be a little young for the 4th Grade students, but I know they will still enjoy it and it will lead to a great discussion about quilts.

Have a quilt that looks just like the quilt in the book. Thought it would be fun to have the book to read to the grand kids as we lay in bed under the quilt. Hopefully, I won't find the kids on the floor in the morning!!

I've been quilting the last 12 years and have quite a collection of quilt pattern books. I am also a reading teacher and started collecting childrens' books about quilts. This little book not only tells a story of how the materials were selected to make the little girl's quilt but also includes her imaginative tale of her night's dream of a lost stuffed pet among the quilt squares come to life.Very nice story and the book was delivered quickly and was in excellent condition.

I enjoyed this book when we picked up, "The Quilt" at the library. My son, Taylor and I would read it together, as he was 3 yrs old. The story is full of imagination and adventure as the girl in the story is looking for her stuffed animal named, Sally. It is full of energy and fun, and ends well with Sally being found. Memorable and captivating read!

The text is simple enough that a young child should be able to read it, so this book might work very well in a kindergarten, first grade, or even second grade classroom.However, I don't really like the pictures, personally. This is a matter of taste, so I'm not rating down for it, but all the same... I think I'm going to donate this to my niece's school.

Yes, The Quilt by Ann Jonas did meet my needs. The book was in good shape and the children enjoyed the story. My class also went on a trip to a museum which was having a quilt exhibit and they read the same book. Thank you for shipping it on time as well.

This is a childs book and will be sending it to my Granddaughter, but it is a nice easy read for kids and I know she will enjoy it
