Prewett's Instant Organic Chicory Drink 100g (Pack of 3)

I am reviewing Prewett’s organic instant chicory drink after ordering my second set of 6 jars. It's a fantastic alternative for coffee enthusiasts, being healthier and a superior choice compared to decaffeinated coffees since this product is naturally caffeine-free. We enjoy drinking it sometimes as a replacement for our coffee, especially in the late afternoon. The flavor is quite similar to a mild coffee, but if you prefer a strong roasted coffee, you might find it to be a lighter taste than that. We personally favor the organic version of chicory drink over the roasted one, as the roasted variety is a bit too intense for our liking. The pack of 6 jars arrived very well packaged in bubble wrap, and I have never experienced any issues with breakage. Once, when I opened a jar and didn’t consume it for an extended period (probably more than two, three months), the chicory powder inside the jar became clogged due to moisture in the air. However, I have never had this issue if I made one drink every or every other day. I believe I opened the 6th jar just after a year following the delivery, and it was just like the first one - no clogs, just dry powder. The secret is to avoid opening the factory-sealed lid until not starting to use the product, or once you opened it, use it daily. I typically prepare mine by adding hot water and milk, but my wife prefers it with just hot plant milk. It’s delicious, and I can highly recommend it.

I’ve been using this organic chicory drink for many years, and it’s truly a lovely natural alternative to coffee smooth, rich, and gentle on the stomach. There’s one important thing I’ve learned over time: the instant chicory granules are very sensitive to moisture. If the original packaging or jar isn’t perfectly airtight, the dry powder gradually absorbs humidity from the air, becomes compacted, and can eventually turn into a thick paste instead of staying as a dry instant product. In my recent order, one of the glass jars arrived not properly sealed, and the chicory had already started compacting. I took a photo of it to show others what can happen. Fortunately, I managed to mash it back into powder and transfer it into an airtight container and It’s going to be still fine to use it. So my advice to the customers is simple: as soon as you open it (or even when it arrives), transfer the chicory into an air tight sealed container. This keeps it in its proper dry, granulated form and preserves its quality for a long time. It’s a wonderful product, it just needs a bit of care in storage to stay at its best. 🌿

Love this product to make a delicious caffeine free latte.

I was dubious at first but did my research prior to going off caffeine. My morning ritual always involved a cuppa coffee and was so sad to know I’d miss out. I made the switch to caffeine free and gave it a go. My chicory ‘coffee’ arrived the following day and begrudgingly poured myself a cuppa. I was in shock, not only did it taste very similar to coffee, it didn’t disappoint. If felt like nothing had changed, sans the caffeine. Highly, highly recommend if you want to switch to a caffeine free alternative. I love it so much I bought another 6 x jars. Marking it down a star as the shelf life once opened it quite short.

Have been buying this in bulk for the last few months after trying a jar. It is a good coffee alternative with a rich flavour. I really like the taste, but my daughter does not enjoy it at all. More for me I guess. I would suggest getting a single jar and just going all in to see if you like it or can get accustomed to the taste. Only criticism is that this is as expensive as a good brand of coffee, so if you aren't desperate to switch i.e. not a heavy coffee drinker looking for an out, then you may want to stick with regular coffee. Unless you just want to move away from coffee because it is not all that good for your gut.
