Excellent picture quality even at nigh, and superb build quality.
These cameras are fantastic, the build quality is very sturdy made with all metal, and once affixed to the wall they are not going anywhere. The mounting options give lots of scope for different angles which is nice, and the cables are nicely (and easily) managed through the bracket. Once powered on the picture quality is fantastic, and at night there is none of the noise and grainy'ness one might expect with a cheaper camera. Configuration with the Unifi Video controller was a piece of cake as well.My only gripe is that these bullet cameras are NOT compatible with 802.11af switch ports like those on the Unifi switches, you'll need the 802.11af to passive converter that Ubiquiti make in order to power these from a Ubiquiti switch. Strangely the G3 dome camera is compatible but not the bullet.Instant 802.3AF Indoor 48V POE Gigabit

2 x faulty g3 bullet cameras
These camera were purchased to install on my UniFi Protect. The firmware will not update past 3.4 therefore rendering these pointless and a waste of moneyThe boxes that these items came to me were clearly not first hand

Disappointing software lets this camera down.
I've been a long time user of ubiquiti wireless, so expected this to be a similarily good product - however the unifi video software is not as good as the unifi wireless software and using this camera is not the simple and straightforward experience I was expecting. The camera seems well made and produces a good picture even at night but is let down by the software.First, getting it to manage my camera was a trial that involved multiple resets of the camera and firmware updates. Then once I had it managed and recording, I had to consult the support site to even find the settings button to change the recording save location - which was hidden due to useless UI design (since changed in a software update). Other bits of the GUI also don't work well (try moving camera angles around on the map). The default motion detection settings are also stupid. On the default settings expect an outdoor camera to record bugs all night. There is then no easy way to pick any 'real' motion detection events apart from these without watching all the recordings one by one, and you have to click the 'show motion' button on every single video because it doesn't remember it or let you show it in the preview thumbnail. Finally the software (running on a windows 10 workstation anyway..) seems to be unreliable and intermittently stops recording after a few days. After 6 weeks it has only made it all the way through from monday-friday once and this was only after I changed the service settings to make it auto-restart when it failed... a setting which then gets wiped out whenever you update the software. There are loads of log files but I am yet to find an explanation of what is included in any of them or find anything useful in them)I bought a single one of these cameras as a test and was anticipating buying more of them. However, I am now going to look at alternatives instead.

Love these cameras
Love these cameras. I've installed 12 now over 3 different sites and they work just how I'd like. All comments I have from the people I've installed them for are "isn't the quality great! the picture is so clear and crisp".Well done UBNT =)

CCTV cameras running on a virtual machine using freenas storage
These are great CCTV cameras.I looked at all sorts of IP cameras and the costs where high. The detail I can pick up from 25 metres are number plate and face which is more than I thought would be possible.I have 8 of these cameras on 2 sites.I'm running Ubuntu server 14.04 long-term and installed unifi software, downloadable from there site. The Ubuntu server is a virtual machine on xenserver .I have a freenas server with an iscsi target sharing 900 gb with the Ubuntu server. It's a nice free way of having an NVR that you don't have to pay for. It was very simple to install all the software. You can go down the normal physical nvr route if you want.I'm using unifi POE switches. The whole installation is a lot cleaner than the analogue system we had before.I'm using IR extender that are fitted to each camera if you have a dark road highly recommended. Very easy to install as well. The software is great and easy to use on the PC and I use the Android app as well.I have a Chromecast connected to a TV in the office and cast the UI so the CCTV can be seen buy people. Using the Chromecast plugin for Chrome browser.
