Perfect solution!
Worked perfectly with wrought iron railing at the top and bottom of our stairs.

Easy, damage-free install for top of stairs gate
Our stairs are tricky, which is why we put off installing baby gates as long as possible. These blocks were very straightforward to install and made installing the top of stairs gate much simpler. And I love how we didn’t have to drill into our stair rails but still have solid, secure gating to keep our little one safe. I do wish they were sold as a pair or had the option for a multi pack.

Useless
Stupidly...I bought two of these regardless of other reviews about the bolt being too long and useless. IT IS!!! I even went and bought fully threaded bolts and it just doesn't work right. I have a wrought iron railing and they aren't all that thick. This may work better on thick wood posts or something but not sure. Still...I think its a waste of money. I ended up using zip ties to attach my bracket to the railing like someone else mentioned and that works PERFECTLY! Very secure, no damage and cheap!! I sent these back. Don't be like me and listen to the reviews!

Made my life so much easier !
I have a very wide (7 inches at the base) tiered post at the top of the stairs this made traditional installation of a baby gate impossible even if I wanted to drill into the post ( which I didn't ) the bottom is much wider than the middle and top so I would have been very limited in my choice of gate . I bought a pair of these brackets , knowing the included bolts wouldn't be long enough for my setup I ran to home Depot and got some longer bolts . I was able to stain these brackets to match my posts and then put some foam on the inside where the bracket meets the post to avoid scratches and most importantly got to securely install the gate of my choice . They're secure and holding the gate nicely . Highly recommend if you have an odd sized post like I do.

Convenient, but be careful
I did my research, so I knew these would fit around the posts that we needed to attach our gates too. I appreciate the convenience of this product (we did not have to buy different size bolts or anything), but be very careful when tightening things up. This wood seems very soft and we had two sets split from tightening too tightly. You just have to go slow to get it tight enough to hold but not so tight that the wood splits. Otherwise, easy to install and use and has held up great (the 2 that didnt split) since installation.

Measure up first!!
I bought these without measuring, just knowing I had to install on bannisters at the top of our stairs. Unfortunately fitting these onto the bannisters made the opening too narrow for the gate itself, so I ended up having to drill into the biggest spindles at the top. Total bummer because I’d already painted these to match the wood! They’re great quality if they fit your dimensions.

Nice alternative then drilling into post
I did not want to drill into my railing post. This is a great alternative to that. Bought in conjunction with the cardinal gate. Worked well make sure these will fit the post thickness you have. I measured before I ordered to make sure.

Not compatible with Cardinal's Retractable Gate
This is NOT compatible with the cardinal gates Retractable Gate. The clamp is too thin for the brackets for the retractable gates to be mounted This is frustrating. Given that their ad says it's compatable with their gates and don't specify that it's not for the retractable gates.

Did the job

I felt like we had to buy this problem in order to make our baby gate work, it was our only choice. Even saying that... I hated that we had to use this product. The bolts were approximately the right length but the t-nut, that allows the whole thing to stay together when the screw goes in, popped right out on both ends. There's nothing to keep it come coming out, it was very frustrating to try to install these. We ended up having to put two long screws through another part of this and then put styrofoam and duct tape at the back. Awful.

Bought 2 of these wood clamps for installing our baby gate without having to drill holes into our 3" solid wood post. They do the job just fine! I don't need to readjust the screws or anything yet. A previous reviewer had a problem with the t-nuts coming out of the receiving wood block. I had the same problem until I realized you must orient the wood block (with t-nuts) in the correct direction!! When installed in the proper direction, the t-nuts actually grips into the wood block as you tighten the clamp. Satisfied, I ended up buying another set of 3 blocks for our mezzanine stairs.
