Campbell's Chunky Soup, Spicy Steak and Potato Soup, 18.8 oz Can

I've got to say, Campbell's got it right. It's tasty. Campbell's did close to what I did with clam chowder. I still also eat regular chowder, but this chowder is really good. Now that the seasons are changing, having canned soups in the cabinet is a great way to just stay in and enjoy the fire place.

The label says, chunky clam chowder, and that is the absolute truth is Ken does contain a lot of pieces of clam, and is very flavorful.

I have long been a fan of Chunky Soups, especially the Healthy Request sub-brand. I like the stew-like texture and the fact that several are high protein/low fat. Since our local stores carry a limited number of varieties, I have taken to ordering from Amazon. One can is about right for my lunch.Lately I have noticed a high salty flavor in these soups. I don't know if Campbell's has changed the recipes or whether I have become more salt-sensitive. The labels on some varieties shows about 900 mg of salt per can. Thus, I don't eat these as often. Consumers on a limited salt diet should be aware of the high level.

I buy these as a base to my crock pot of Clam Chowder. I end up using 2 cans and add more clams and much more seasoning and taters. These are also great for my hubby to take camping and they taste great. Cheaper on Amazon than in my local store. Quick shipping and luckily no damage to the cans...

I enjoy this on occasion, but it's extremely salty, much moreso than any other cream-based Campbell's Chunky soup I've tried. I'd say I prefer my food saltier than the average person, but this is a bit much even for me. For that reason, I don't purchase it very often. The ham is quite flavorful though, and I like the hearty consistency. It's just the thickness I want when going for a good chowder. It's worth trying in my opinion, but I'd definitely suggest testing a can or two before buying it in bulk if super salty isn't your jam.

First time I have ever tried this OLD BAY Seasoned Clam Chowder and I like the taste. I will buy it again.
