I needed a mid sized easy to carry ax that will hold an edge. This does all of that.. swing with both or one hand and powerful enough to split wood easily.

I know this isn't a dedicated splitting hatchet but the geometry of the cheeks are really thin, causing the blade to get stuck alot.I got this set to try out the different sizes for a potential replacement for my ganfors small forest axe... These hatchets are not even close.Weighing in heavier than the ganfors and bruks small forest axe you'd think you'd be able to make better chips. But it's really hard to cut deeply with these hatchets. And because they are so thin, even when I put in an apple seed grind, its such a tiny apple seed it behaves like a regular grind.It's not really fair to compare these to a ganfors, but hey, at least I know.I can't think of an good application for these tools. But I guess I'm just spoiled from the ganfors.
